shame to hear that from corluka, insteda of working hard and challenging walker who is imo still defensively suspect he would rather push for a move

For me i think we need to get in a player who has something to prove in order to get himself into the Euro's.

Someone who can ad something to our attack, so either a striker or a winger. I don't think we need to spend too big either.

I guess if he's available my choice would be Adam Johnson. Perhaps a double deal can be done for him and Ade, something like £25m for the pair of them?

Leandro would be the ideal choice, but i can't see us having much of a chance anymore with him.

Pitty to hear Charlie say that....more bad news for Luka Eek

This is were Harry has to get it right in terms of utilising the squad, don't envy him...tough juggling act.

However if players know they ain't going to get a sniff can we blame them?

Is this the start of all our fringe players agitating for moves?...have to be careful of the domino effect.

Looks like we'll need a new right back now too, Charlie wants to leave:

Hope this doesnt add to luka's itchy feet

I don't think it'll make much difference, Chelsea weren't interested in Corluka when they wanted Modric so if he had moved in the summer he would've been without him and to be fair to Corluka he is saying that he understands why he has been dropped in favour of Walker and has no hard feelings about it.

I think if we focus on getting in another CB then Kaboul can cover RB when Walker is out, i'm sure Gallas can do an emergency job there too.

Competition (/successor if we can't keep him next season) for Adebayor is needed. Olivier Giroud in France fits the bill as a target man and should be interested despite Montpellier topping the table. Might cost a bit though as he's just been capped by France.

Well to be honest i can't name any fringe player that i'd be concerned with if they left; Corluka, Bassong, Pienaar, Kranjcar, Gomes, GDS - they're all replaceable for the same amount of money we'd get for them.

I think it would be good for us to sell up some of the fringe players and bring in replacements, it's clear that the main body of our squad is at a very high standard, so bringing in some fresher, hungrier players to compete with them for a place would be a good thing.

We only need 22 outfield players in our squad, and if you assume that; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Gallas, King, Ekotto, Rose, Lennon, Parker, Huddlestone, Livermore, Sandro, Modric, Bale, VDV, Defoe and Manu are all staying in the first team, we only need another 5 players, yet currently we have the 7 above fringe players, not including the younger ones like Kane, Carroll and Townsend etc...

So we could afford to sell 3 or 4 fringe players and bring in only 1 or 2 replacements for them.

The we'd have a spare bit of cash to put towards signing Ade/new striker.

If we are going to go with Walker as cover, then taking Naughton back in and selling Corluka provides us with funds for a transfer and a like for like replacement should Walker need rested or pick up injury. Naughton gaining more experience this year can only be a good thing for us.
All we are lacking is Depth on the wings and upfront. Longterm we need a keeper, CB, winger and 2 strikers. But in January, a winger and a replacement for PAv should be enough.

I agree we need to move a few on, but not to the point were we are making whole sale changes to the squad. The point was more about the squad being used....I mean if players looking outside in see players wanting to leave because they can't get into the team...how will that affect their thinking? If they're very young and new to the League they're more likely to be patient....but generally any player we'll be looking to sign will be a fringe player because our first eleven picks itself at the moment.

I dont want to see much change in Jan. I think however we can sell Pav and Bassong if we can get in better replacements. Possibly let Gomes go too as he can't even make our bench these days.

Everything seems fine when we don't have any injuries to our key players. It could go horribly wrong though if we do get some injuries.

Charlie should be made to stay until the summer, at least. Walker is playing a hell of a lot of games for somebody that age and will tire. We will also have more games from Jan onwards with the FA cup and EL, we need decent replacements.

We also need a back up for Ade. If he go injured, we are fooked. I also feel we could do with a back up/ competition for Lennon. I know we have people who can do the job out there but would prefer a top quality back up who can really put pressure on Lennon to start.

If Seabass goes then we should replace him, apart from that we are fine.

Firstly we can't realistically improve the first team without spending a fortune. So u look at which areas are our back ups weak?

My opinion is we need a back up to Benny and Walker as Charlie wants to leave. A back up wide player and a back up Ade clone

Hoillet would be a good choice for back up wide player. Leandro would be good

What do you guys think of Ben Arfa? From what little I've seen he looks like a very talented player who'd be great competition for Lennon and he seems more technically gifted too.

Pardew doesn't seem to think Ben Arfa has the discipline to play out wide. Almost all of his game time this season has come as a second forward ie. Rafa's role. If he saw him as a winger he would surely start above Obertan.

Naughty can't be recalled unfortunately.

Shame because if Charlie really wants to go, I'd bring Naughty in. And if Bassong still wants to go, I'd bring Caulker in.

Maybe next summer.

Not sure what pienar has done wrong to not be considered an adequate back up winger?

All I think we need is cover for ade and surely rednapp can see this too without ade actually needing to get injured first...?

When has Pienaar been an impressive player on the right at any point in his career?

Pienaar was at his best in the centre of a 5 man mid or on the left.

We only really need a back up for Adebayor, but that's easier said then done.
