The players aformentioned above have all won over 10 trophies each for their clubs, which include multiple league titles and European cups. Arsenal didn't retire TH14 and he is a genuine legend. As someone else mentioned above, King was our only good player for a long time but that doesn't mean he should have his number retired - if it was, it would make us look like a joke club and all the bigger clubs we're trying to catch/emulate would be laughing at us.

I hate this questioning of whether he'd have stayed if fit. Before injuries, when Cheksea came into money and were strongly linked, he resigned without any fuss for five years. Why does nobody remember that. This was around the time that he showed everybody how class he was in the euro2004 opener.
Fact is, we'd have been more successful if he'd stayed fit anyway so he'd have has less reason to leave!
