Ridiculous member system

Right, a bit of a rant!

The OS ticketing system requires you to sign up for an account to buy tickets that are on general sale, even if you are not a member. Fine, I have no issues with that.

What I do have an issue with is the fact that, in order to log into that account, you have to input your 'client reference number'. Now, if you forget your client reference number, which is extremely likely if you are a non-member as you receive no email confirmation of it, you cannot recover it. You can recover your password, if you have your client reference number but can't do it vice versa. I would have thought a much better solution would be to just use your email address for log in purposes, as almost every other website does, but, alas, no, the OS has to be awkward. Who did we get to design this system ffs!

I have now had to create 2 new email addresses over the last 3 years purely so I can register a new account. Ridiculous!

Agree that they should put in a system whereby you can recover a client reference number (the usual security question thing would suffice I'm sure).

Until they do, is a practical solution not to simply print a screen-shot of a web page with your client reference number to PDF or something similar and save on your computer somewhere? I do it with most confirmations/online purchase receipts simply as a fail-safe.

What you mean is, you deleted the email you got in the first place, and deleted every ticket confirm you ever got, and then couldn't be bothered to ring up the club to recover it...

It is crap, but the client reference number is also the membership number that members have on their cards, they are not trying to encourage general sale.

Yes you are probably correct, but what a pain in the arse when a simple recovery system would be much more effective, especially when you are not always at the same computer

No because I have never received any email with the client reference number on it, period. I am not a member. If the ticket office was open at the 11pm that I was trying to book a ticket I would gladly have called. My understanding of an online system though was that it was supposed to be accesible without the constant need to call up the ticket office.

Why not just become a member? Problem solved

Because I do not want to pay £45 or whatever the cost is now .

My point is that an organisation with the resources that THFC has at its disposal really should have a better ticketing system and more client friendly website. The whole ticketing system is a joke and little bugs like this should not exist with a company the size of THFC.

£23 seems very little for something so useful especially as you seem to be getting so stressed about it.

I think a lot of you are missing a point here - it's not only about how much it stresses out a current fan who is unable to afford/can't see the value in a membership, it's about how much it will deter any casual fans, or new fans to the stadium too.

I was a member for about 5 years, but gave it up when i realised that the membership pack was worth about a pound (after a few years of a groovy scarf, pen, etc - it might not have been a lot, but it was something), and if i wasn't able to afford a membership pack that cost about the same as a game ticket, it wasn't likely i'd be attending enough games to warrant the few days grace offered on tickets. When i do try and buy a ticket, however, it turns into a real trial of endurance.

On top of discouraging casuals/new supporters, it also encourages touts as you don't have to worry about client numbers or other shit dealing with them.

Precisely. Why would a club employ such a dysfunctional system when it would be so easy to have a had a properly designed system without the bugs. It just makes no sense.

Tell that to all of us who didnt get tickets to the Milan game and will probably lose out on the Real Madrid game too.
The thing thats really annoying me at the minute is the fact I signed up to bronze to use the extra day over lilywhite members to buy tickets, but the Milan and Madrid games went/go on sale for both memberships on the same day.
Cheers Tottenham!
