We only paid 13m of the 26m didn't we? The rest was incentive based which I would say have not been met. If this is the case it's another Levy masterclass in transfer negotiation.

The optimists believe that but I'm not sure it's ever been confirmed or if it has what would trigger further pay outs.

If I remember rightly it was £13mill upfront and £13mill over 3 years. Lamela was the one with the add ons based on performance of the club(CL qualification and the like).

The rate of Tax in Turkey is about 10% I believe so it enables Turkish clubs to be a bit more competitive with wages.

Unbelievable this got seven disagrees! Haha.

It's crazy, isn't it? People just have to cling to the image of our new superstar striker. The facts speak for themselves, Soldado's record/displays weren't even as good as Rebrov. Pavlyuchenko, Bent, Armstrong, Iversen, Ferdinand and all of our other big striker signings that were labelled flops did BETTER than Soldado.

He is one of the worst signings in terms of expectations versus delivery that I can ever remember.

As a striker, he is abysmal, ABYSMAL. His goal record from open play is what, 2 goals in 2 seasons? Eric Dier managed to score more goals in ONE season and he's a centre-back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

He was a bad signing and a flop, but he's not untalented or shit. Soldado's record in Spain proves that. Never suited to England, and once his confidence was gone, that was that.

I have to agree. He showed glimpses of quality but it was never enough. Confidence shot.

Never said he was untalented. I'm saying that he's the worst first-choice striker we've ever purchased since I've been a fan (I.e. Rasiak and similar don't count).

Even Gary Doherty was a better goal threat upfront. Soldado never looked like scoring, he always looked hesitant and indecisive. His finishing ability was the worst I've seen from any main Spurs striker in my time. He just looked hapless. Its a shame as he worked really hard and always put 100% in, but he was just poor and offered very little quality at all in most games. I think his work rate and personality mean fans point out positives in his game that really should be a given in any professional level striker playing at Championship level or above such as "he makes some intelligent runs", "he's good at passing the ball" etc.

Literally, you could probably have put ANY Premier League starting striker in his place and he'd have done better.

For all the stick he gets, Adebayor has offered far more in a Spurs shirt than poor Bobby.

And Dier scored 2 in his first 2 games! God knows how many league games it took Soldado to score 2 from open play...maybe 30+?

He's been an unmitigated disaster but I do wonder if things might've been different if he'd had a little more luck in his first 10 or so games. I remember him hitting the woodwork a few times, once from a sublime little backheel. Perhaps if a couple of those had gone in it would've relieved some of the pressure and given him the confidence to kick on.

It is key. I also think if he'd have played in Pochettino's team from the start, rather than AVB's, it would have made a difference. He didn't really get many chances in AVB's system. In Pochettino's system, he got a lot of chances, but he only managed to make a catalogue of howlers in front of goal.

If he'd had the chances while he was still in the Valencia groove of banging them in instinctively, he could well have lived up to his expectations.
