Never been close to that. He is a mistake waiting to happen when playing at CB, and Mourinho knows it. His talent is there for all to see, but he is a his best when playing as a defensive midfielder so he can burst forward more freely and dont worry as much about positioning etch.

A good defensive midfielder lets centre halves go on a run when the right opportunity presents itself, it's not a bad thing at all, in fact it's the complete opposite, that's what makes him so good

All defenders are a mistake waiting to happen, all footballers are a mistake waiting to happen.... Every single player in the world makes mistakes

tell Muller and the rest of the German's that...they have his ass from now on

It would be nice if players could go through their career without conceding a goal but unfortunately I don't think you'll find many

I have a few Chav mates and they say that Mourinho used to go spare over Luiz's lack of concentration and poor positioning at times even shifting him to DM to try and keep him out of harms way. Yes he is flamboyant and yes he is a quality player but to say he is one of the best defenders in the world...I dont think so. I am just scratching my head thinking how he could have cost 50m quid!

morning mate, sorry, went to bed early last night

as soon as luiz went for stupid money my tin foil hat came out. We all know how both the chavs and psg have destroyed the transfer market but are still attempting to at least publicly be seen to be complying with ffp. By entering into a cartel with each other, they can effectively sell/buy players to/from each other at massively inflated prices and give both clubs a cash boost that they may not have got if the player in question had gone elsewhere. for me this will be confirmed if between now and January we see a current psg player move to the chavs for what appears to be a significant market mark-up.

as said, probably me and my tin-foil hat but I smell a rat.

FFP is based on profit/loss not turnover, if PSG sell a player to Chelsea for £50m, and then Chelsea sell a player to PSG for £50m, their turnovers will have increased, but there will be no difference to their P&L.

And leaders (Silva, Terry) are at their best with someone like Luiz

as you say though, it's the profit and loss and the clear overpaying that's the issue isn't it? what did luiz cost? 22/25m? Hence profit of £25m-ish when he's worth probably what they paid (or less) so 25m clear profit. If psg sell someone to the chavs for a grossly inflated fee isn't it the same thing, in that it adds to profits regardless of turnover. Doesn't need to be £50m each way, even selling a £2m player for £20m.

Apologies if it's just me being a dong.

Sorry mate, I know that you like David Luiz but give me one truly successful CB partnership that had one rock solid player and one player that is likely to go walkabout in a split second, the best ones for me are:

Vidic & Ferdinand, Carvalho & Terry, Bruce & Pallister, Adams & Bould & Hyypia & Carragher.

Not a single one of those players were a liability!

You have to add up all the income from players sales and then subtract all the expenditure from player purchases and from that you'll get the over all P&L from player transfers. For this reason your suspected collusion between PSG and Chelsea couldn't work. Consider:

Chelsea buy player A for £2m, then sell him to PSG for £45m.
PSG buy player B also for £2m and then sell him to Chelsea also for £45m

Chelsea's gross expenditure = £2m spent on player A, plus £45m spent on player B = £47m
Chelsea's gross income = £45m from selling player A to PSG
Chelsea's P&L = -£2m

For PSG it's of course the same...

Therefore buying from each other at artificially inflated prices does nothing to reduce over all P&L and therefore nothing to help with FFP.

That Belgian reporter, Kristoff Terruer (spelling surely is wrong) said we remain interested along with Everton and Wolfsburg. He's a really good source for Belgian info in my opinion.

Heard Everton are now favorites to land him... would be crap if we lose a target to them...

frankly... think he chelsea will prefer to see him in Germany..... hopefully Lukaku will want to stay in England.
