Conte isn't going to there next season and it's pretty obvious that it wasn't his choice to bring him in.
yup --- odd for Barkley to roll the dice when he could have had Poch in the summer.
But maybe the injury clarified that money is the number 1 thing for him...and that's ok if that is the case to be honest....got to deal with being embarrassed in return for the millions

Has it been announced how much Barkley is getting a week?

Seems to be kept quiet

Fair point but it would be interesting to see how far we are away from clubs like Chelsea in paying players like Barkley.

After all the articles and hope on here, we might never have been in the running because we simply can’t compete

This smells of Jose at Chelsea the first time there. Roman gives Jose a player like Sidwell and Conte is getting a crock Barkley. Roman is keeping his purse tiightly shut. The fact they're being linked to bang average strikers right now you get a feeling Conte is gone

I don't think Roman or the fans wanted Costa to leave but who do you back in them situations?

Not annoyed in the slightest. Wasn't overly bothered about getting him in the first place though to be honest. I was prepared to take a punt on him for free/cheap but I really don't think he's got the mentality to live up to his obvious raw talent. He'll be a fringe player at Chelsea for a couple of years, make his money, then get a move to West Ham or something. Showed where his true motivation lies and who am I to judge. Good luck to him I say.

He has prostituted himself and the way things are at Chelsea it needs to go well for him as the place is a bit toxic
at the moment what with Conte and senior players pulling in indifferent directions.

I agree it's a bad time to go to Chelsea but I don't blame him. Like I say, he's obviously decided money is more important to him than playing time and if that's what he wants then Chelsea is a better choice than us so fair enough. He's made his bed etc.

I'm not pissed because I wasn't greatly excited about potentially signing him. I thought he would be good mostly for the sake of adding a bit of freshness and something new to the team as opposed to being good solely due to his ability.

I am surprised he went to Chelsea though. Not sure if he just solely wants the money or if he truly believes in his ability to be playing enough football there every week but even prior to his somewhat poor start there for the sake of his footballing career it never looked like the best move for him. Not sure how much young and upcoming talent I'd advise to go to Chelsea unless you just wanted a bigger salary.

He can have no complaints if he isn't being played by his current manager who clearly doesn't rate him and if the next manager coming in doesn't rate him then what? At least at Spurs he'd be coming into a settled team and a manager who would accelerate his progression but as you said he's made his bed so good luck to him, don't need doughnuts like that in our squad.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I agree with his decision, but if money is more important to you than playing time then clearly you're better off at Chelsea regardless of all the chaos going on there. Like I say, he'll be a fringe player there for a couple of years making good money then end up at a West Ham, Palace, Stoke or whatever. He'll never be a regular starter at Chelsea but I'm sure he knows that.

I think he’s done it to try and get in the England squad for the World Cup

People say he could have had us in the summer, but he wants to play now. Everton weren’t going to play him.

He would have had a better chance of making that England squad if he came to us seeing as the manager has an exceptional record getting players called up to the England team.

He's done it purely for money and his agent had a massive say in it as well, £160k a week for Barkley and his agent got a £7m payoff out of it as well.

We only wanted him in the summer didn’t we?

Poch is great but to get a player in the World Cup squad before he joins the club? Not sure even a Poch can manage that!

He waits for us, he misses the World Cup, for me that’s why he joined Chelsea last month
