Pulis has got a history of profiting from player sales

Pulis also admitted he had lied about how he received the documents when he said in a statement to his solicitors that they had been passed to him anonymously. He also admitted lying when he was asked to return "all club property" at the termination of his contract. He said he had nothing other than a car and a mobile phone, when he knew his consultant, Pack, had the documents.

And a cap, tracksuit, trainers, socks....

Is not one of the things you appoint a manager for, especially one like Pulis, is his experiemce and knowledge and contacts so if he brings all of that and his status at the club is a deciding factor for players choosing to come to the club, is he not entitled to remuneration, sort of interlectual property rights?
Nothing untoward about that surely.
Also that article looks like something a notoriously unpleasant chairman with an axe to grind might put to a useful hack.

There's a huge conflict of interest in managers taking a cut on players they sign - they'll prefer players where they can take a cut and will have an interest in the fee being as high as possible. That sort of practice is surely against the terms of all managers' contracts with their clubs.

There's a more subtle and perhaps more pernicious conflict of interest in managers taking a cut on players they sell. While it seems to make sense to compensate them for maximising value, there'll be plenty of situations where managers are incentivised to select certain players over others, not on the strength of their contributions on the pitch, but on the size of bonus their continued selection could unlock. Or they might be incentivised to leave certain players out of the starting 11 for a limited time to encourage them to seek a move. Or they might simply be inclined to treat these players like sh*t so they look for a transfer.

FWIW, despite the odds on Berahino joining Spurs this window being 9/1, I reckon we might get him. Probably more likely we won't than we will, but 9/1 seems out of whack.

I refuse to believe that there are managers in the premier league who are nothing more than asset strippers, its bunkum, utter nonsense, their job depends on the success of the team for which they are richly rewarded so why would they sacrifice that for some daft skullduggery.
It's not like the old days when managers contracts were lower and a sizeable bung made a huge difference, this is about the knowledge, contacts and experience they bring to the club, the alternative is that they bring all of that, bring in the players the club needs, get sacked and the club benefits at their expense , it protects their legitimate interests.

For those liking conspiracy theories - maybe the hold up in Townsend going to Newcastle was that Newcastle had to agree to withdraw from the Berahino biding (and then go for Remy or whoever else) leaving the only bid on the table for Berahino being Spurs.

On the other hand Peace may not sell for under £30m or so...

I knew it. So predictable and the outcome is just as predictable. I wonder what special message for Levy Peace has lined up for WBA's official site this time? :D
"Fuck off". The wording will be different, but the meaning will be exactly the same.

It's frustrating. So so obvious. Normally I poo poo links like this but it's just such a likely move from us.

You can tell the article is bullshit because of the last line "Spurs will pay the £17m up front".

Yeah, right...

It doesn't say that...says we'll pay more up front than we did in the summer but the total package is less.

Probably still bullshit mind.
