I love the way you are clinging on to a tiny thread of hope still :)

Would you put it past Levy? I wouldn't!

Very pointed remarks they were IMO. And I'm not convinced it was just a message to the fans from Poch.

If it turns out that we bid again in the coming days you;ll know those remarks were designed to exert pressure and elevate our negotiating position.

Yes I don't disagree with you at all, and personally I don't mind if we do buy him, I still think he could do a very good job for us.

I bloody hope we still go for him, been a long time since we had a very good combo, Berbatov and Keane, Archibald and Crooks

I know if and when he was to get fit we wouldn't be playing as a 2 up top, but I honestly believe Kane and Berahino would hit it off just like they have for the under 21's for England.

and if after a season or 2 he does turn out to be a bit disruptive, with his 3yrs +left on a contract, providing he has a pretty good scoring record, we could sell him back to WBA for £35m providing they pay for it all at once

Better to go for Lacazette for a few mill more imo
A bit off topic but I hope we really go for Lacazette in the summer. Would have seemed like a pipedream 12 months ago but if we get UCL then why not? Already said he wants a move to the PL and we would be a very attractive prospect. Kane playing just behind him and we would have ourselves a very dangerous duo

Yep. I've never believed we've dropped our interest in him. Whether we'd bid for him or even get him are two different stories though.

I would love Berahino. I don't buy into all the bad attitude/bad person stuff myself. I think it would be great to have 2 different types of strikers at such a level. Kane who's a brilliant target man and finisher and Berahino who's brilliant at getting in behind and a good finisher also.

It would be nice to have a like for like replacement for Kane in case he does get injured but it's also great to have a different type of striker to mix it up too.

So you move one of the best centre forwards in Europe into a position where he is not as effective to accommodate an inferior player? Doesn't make sense to me. And who would you drop from attacking mid? Lamela, Eriksen, Son, Alli?

We need a back up for Kane but ideally someone who is happy to make an impact from the bench and start cup games. Not a player who is going to cost £30m+ and expects to start every match.

If we get him this window, I'm not sure what impact he'll have. He seems to be unfit for them, and the Baggies fans are complaining about letting himself go. That means he'll need to train hard to catch up. Would only be an impact player off the bench until then, and we will need to rely on his goalscoring instincts.

As for the attitude problem I feel he's been bullied in that club environment. I remember seeing a picture of McAuley, Evans and Brunt the Northern Ireland trio shortly after September taunting him that they're off to Euro 2016 and he wasnt. None of the players at that club are of his age and he hasn't got anyone he would relate to. The Spurs environment would be much better for him and he enjoyed his time in the U21 with not only Kane, but Dier, Carroll and Pritchard.

I'd be patient with him if he does come now till the summer to get him upto speed. I actually think Adebayor will have a bigger impact at Crystal Palace over the next few months than Berhanio will with us or whomever he is with.

I think Poch's statement about a new striker having to be a good guy was a statement that he did not want Berahino anywhere near his training sessions.

Or absolutely the opposite - by Spurs wanting Berahino, it actually sends the guy the upmost love, by the very fact we do want him?

Edit - crumbs, I'd understand a disagree, but a dislike? Hard crowd. Oh well, cheers, no matter.....;)

Hard to buy in January, bla! No player in the whole world fits the profile, bla bla!! The right players not available, bla!
We are currently in the race for the TITLE. A top signing or 2 would give us an unbelievabley great chance of actually winning the Premier league this season. We are short in some positions. I cannot comprehend why we wouldn't go for it. If now is not the time, when? We have the money and ultimately money talks. You make a bid that the selling club cannot refuse. It's not rocket science. Signing a striker should be the absolute bare minimum. If not Berahinho then someone else.
If we do nothing, which sadly is what I think we'll do, we will look at this as another opportunity missed. Who knows when we'll be in such a position again. Few days to go and hopefully we have players lined up. To dare is to do...

This is Pochettino's methods, he doesn't want just anyone in the team, he wants someone he can trust and someone who will buy into his ethos. This is the way it's going to be from now on and I'm afraid you're going to have to get used to it.

Quite right too.
After all it's not like popping into Harrods to buy some expensive trinket where they'll be fawning all over you.

Totally agree with the sentiment in this comment. Remember when we had Ledley, Modders, VDV, Bale, etc and were 12 points clear of Arsenal coming into the January window? Ended up with 3rd rate free transfers and ended the season with nothing.
We are in a very similar situation, fighting on 3 fronts for silverware and have a genuine chance of winning the league ffs!
How anyone could defend the club if they don't, at the very least, sign a striker such as Berahino or Embolo is beyond me tbh.

I understand and sympathise with your irritation but what's the point of buying somebody who Poch won't play?
It seems, to me anyway, that Poch has certain values he wants to see in a player, it's not just his footballing ability.
I can't understand why we can't/haven't identified somebody but maybe we have and are having difficult negotiations or the player himself doesn't want to come so we're trying to persuade him.
There are many reasons why transfer don't happen to which we're not privy.
And no I'm not defending the club, as I'm as frustrated as much as the next fan, but merely making a point.

Wonder whether it was a message to Berahino that if he wants to be at spurs he'll have to behave?
