Arsenal with lacazette, utd with Rashford, Liverpool with Sturrridge, Bournemouth with Defoe. The list is endless. He's a striker that doesn't score or assist. We have one like that already. I'd say janssen is a much higher calibre.
As backup to Kane I would take him over every single one of those. People think he needs crosses to be effective yet they so conveniently forget the goal he scored for WBA @ Wembley he outpaced and bullied Sanchez. He is more than a big lump. Most importantly he is hard-working, unselfish, and a good teammate. All opinions I guess.

Wait. Hold on. You would take Rondon instead of Rashford?

My West Brom mate says Rondon really isn't that good and laughs at the fact that opposing fans (including me) tell him that Rondon is a "decent/good player".

He's big and strong and busy, but he doesn't score that many goals, missing lots of chances in the process.

Basically, he'd have been poor back-up for Kane

It's nuanced Sweech. But as a #9 backup to Harry, yes.

First off, the question (or at least the point I was making) was as a backup to Harry. I'm thinking as replacing Llorente in a specialized #9 position. Rondon has shown that he is a good teammate and would accept his role but still bust his hump for the team in the limited minutes given to him. I also think he offers a hell of a lot more than most people who only watch him 2x/year do.

Secondly, I don't really hold Rashford in as high a regard as many/most and taken objectively it would be hard to. And as a #9 I don't rate him at all. He looks lost up top and has neither the guile, strength, nor finishing to be a #9. Additionally, he has shown a tendency toward a Billy Big Bollocks demeanor so I am not sure he would be happy to take the role given to him.

Now, the point could be made that Rashford offers potentially more and could spell players out wide. Based on the evidence thus far I would suggest that he offers nothing from the right and only limited moments of promise from the left. I feel people are still holding on to the inflated expectations from 3 years ago and rejecting all the intervening evidence since. I believe hasn't really pushed on nor added anything to his game to suggest that he will become anything more than he already is. But if a move for Rashford was made based on this (age, perceived tactical flexibility, etc) I could understand the reasoning.

So for filling this specific role I would have Rondon but could easily understand Rashford being the choice with age and 'potential' on his side. But if you put both of those players into our side I feel that one's performance/production would greatly improve on what he has shown in his current side whereas the other's would not.

Just an opinion
