Might not look like it, but I think it's a positive he can come in now and build the club how he wants it with his people in DOF and manager positions. It maybe painful starting from scratch, but at least we're not hamstrung by the previous regime (even if Paratici did do some good work).
I do agree with this except that we are still entirely hamstrung by the overall existing regime.

But accepting that Levy is never leaving, this does feel as close to a clean slate as we can get.

I mean, it feels like we've accepted that we got our entire structure wrong and have then gone about systemically recruiting people with football expertise but that's not enough, we also need Levy's head on a spike and a total wildcard new leader in place.

If I can have the perfect owner; clean and unlimited reserves of cash who makes the right decision 95% I would take that. Failing that one who tries to learn from their mistakes is OK by me.

We've started signing good players. We've started signing good back room scouts and player development experts. We just need a manager / coaching set up to match that and for Levy to delegate all football matters to other people.

I don't know about Munn but if he can lead with decisive humility then I'm in. If he can upwardsly manage Levy then that's the best case scenario (bar a benevolently rich and morally pristine overlord arriving).

You know what I meant. Munn has a chance to make his own imprint on the club without having to remove a DOF or manager. He can get people in who he is willing to work with straight away. I do hope he already has ideas on who he wants and he can start to bring them in ready for his official start date at least.

we re going to have such an amount of work to do in such a short time through the summer and preseason before the new season kicks in soo many players for new manager to assess before he thinks about transfers i bet we will be stuck with half the loan players coming back for next season

They don’t really all need to be assessed though - any who were removed from the squad for attitude or effort reasons can go straight away, and some like Winks and Rodon are pretty clearly a level behind where we’d like our squad to be.

Do we actually know what Munn is all about? What sort of football does he favour and what sort of record does he have for getting stuff right? All I know is he's worked in Australia and China which isn't really indicative of anything and has had the financial clout of City Group to make improvements. Lots of people are saying it's great that he's got a clean sheet to work from, but I haven't a clue what he might do in that situation or whether it will be any good. It's a huge responsibility for someone nobody had heard of a fortnight ago.

He starts working for the club the first of July, he is on gardening leave. Unless he breaks his agreement and starts working on the sly he won't be involved with picking the next manager and DoF. Perhaps we delay the DoF appointment, but if we do we'll get the awkward situation of the DoF not getting to appoint his own manager.

Hercules said he was already here. But your right the official line was he’d start July 1st

It will probably depend more on the formation, tactics and transfer intentions for players that will come in. Some players will stink it up under manager A, manager B moves them six feet to the left and they're suddenly tearing it up, I'm keen to find out who our next manager is then we can start looking at who's likely to fit into our new shape.

Like @Japhet - I know nothing about Munn, so I'm really interested to see what direction he goes in.

I’ve got to say, it’s all very confusing.
I long for the days of ignorance of childhood when it was all about the manager and the players.
Theoretically Munn picks the DOF, the DOF picks the coach/manager.
So if that is how it works, we could be some way off hiring a new manager.

I'm sure he's currently being consulted on the matters. Video conferencing and phones make this very easy

When I said come in now I didn't mean immediately. I meant he can arrive with the chance to implement his people and his style on day one.

I was about to ask when is he starting work. It will be so ideal if he could start work when the announcement was made. July is so far away with preseason already starting when he would be so imperative in talking to our (potential) new manager NOW in laying out the strategies ahead.

But why am I not surprised footballing matters are never urgent for this club under Levy... 😞

He's on gardening leave. If he could officially come immediately im sure Levy would have asked for it.

I'm not reading too much into all of this and i'm not sure he'll be involved in much on the actual football side beyond general direction. To me it seems like he'll pick an overall strategy and then let whoever he puts in place get on with it, so a DoF will be picking the manager/players that kind of thing and so on and he'll be the big picture guy, letting the 'experts' he appoints get on with the specifics. If he can't start until 1st July that doesn't mean much, if we appoint a manager before that date then it wouldn't be much of a surprise either, not ideal but i'm sure he'll have given his onions on that.

I'm not expecting anything beyond that really and I don't see any problems with when he starts, the journey is going to be long enough so a few weeks won't put the club back that much, if at all.

All IMO of course
