Enjoying this. A proper pre-season game that is providing a real test, and asking a lot of questions. Exactly as it should be. Poch will learn a hell of a lot more from this than watching us bang 10 in against some random farmers from Luxembourg.

I hope he's paying particular attention to the fact that we are carved open way too easily at the back. Also, we struggle with passing at the back, moving the ball from defence to midfield.

Theseare things we really need to improve upon.

I really didnt like the look of Tom Carroll.. He seems to be that guy that shy's away from challenges.. plus that weird arm pull he made around 40th minute or something.. clear penalty, mind i havent seen a replay of it..

His physical shape is another thing.. He aims high with the long ball stuff, but his simply too small physical in a midfield.. Pull him further up the field, but than his playset is misplaced..

Get rid.

I understand that it is the first game on a difficult pitch against a team that is in the middle of their season .... but I was hoping to see a little more structure to the team. Other than Capoue and Kane I am not sure who is playing where. Holtby seems to be on the right wing and the others either nowhere or all over the place. If we had some more structure I was thinking that we would net let our full backs be left pen so much.

Very nice goal by Holtby after Kane pass through other than we have struggled offensively. I waned to see either Holtby or Carroll in the middle spreading the ball around including wide to Lennon/Townsend out wide.

Not sure that I want to talk about the defense as they are causing more problems with their poor positioning and passing
We started with great structure and then you could see all the recent training and drilling slowly drain out of the players as they resorted to what's deeply ingrained: shambles.

It really is gonna take a whole season to wring out all of our bad habits, poch has got a real job on his hands with this lot.

Good defending but poor passing from Spurs at the back including Brad. I heard that MoPo was trying to get us better at that.
Kane is looking more and more like the real deal.

Can someone confirm the formation and in particular where Holtby was playing
Looks like Holtby is playing right-center Mid - paired with Capoue, with Carroll playing a little deeper. Kane is up top, Townsend and Lennon have been on the wings, but switched sides at some point, I think...

Interesting to see Lennon and Townsend positions. Playing very narrow and close to Kane. It's more of a front three rather than central stricker with two wingers.

Think it will really suit Lamela and I can see Erickson playing that role on the left.

Holtby has done well, pressed and won te ball back several times and made runs beyond Kane.

Shocking defending, not going to go into detail (oh dear Dawson)!

All in all I'm happy with what I'm seeing. There's a plan but it's obviously going to take time. Need to consider the circumstances too (first pre-season game, decent opp, missing players, terrible pitch etc.)
