Personally, Kyle Walker (no P) should be number 2. Defensively he has improved, but I'm bored of watching him race into excellent positions and then waste them.
At present Trippier would be no.1

I haven't seen much of Yedlin, but I dont think he will ever reach the heights of his international debut against Germany in the world cup.

I think Yedlin will be loaned if not sold. He did have a gold season but still needs to improve more to be to the level we require.[/QUOTE]What level is this? Yedlin has been playing against most of the same attacking players that both either Trippier or Walker had to defend against for us. And he did so without the benefit of having the quality centre backs and defensive midfield to protect him as both Trippier and Walker had. Not saying that Trippier is not better, but you give Yedlin ability a disservice

Surely if he is as good as you believe the best thing for his development would be to go on loan to a Championship side and play regularly as a first choice rather than be number 2 to Walker at Spurs and only play 10-20 games ?

As I've said elsewhere, if he's not going to be back up this year then he needs to go on loan and it needs to be somewhere they actually want an attack minded fullback and play that kind of game. We have seen too many loans fail miserably because the managers in the shit kicker leagues don't always have the opportunity (or indeed motivation) to indulge and educate a technically gifted 18/19yo kid on behalf of an EPL club. And I understand this to an extent.

I would actually think about trying to get him a loan to a foreign league, like France (where football is well coached and all about pass and press and tactical application), or Holland or Belgium, all countries where young players are, for economic reasons mostly, far more widespread and coaches are used to playing them.

But I would prefer he stay here, train and learn under the coaching of Pochettino and his system, day in day out, get 10-20 appearances and play with better players, against better players with better protection from better refs and for a coach with an ability to teach and an incentive to teach him.

This kid is the real deal, I have no doubt. Of course he's got learning to do, and he needs to be taught, but quality FB's are bloody rare and vital in modern football, especially our system, so I hope we get his development right.

Myself and others criticised Poch for doing this with Winks, instead preferring for him to get proper game time on loan. It's early days, but it seems Poch knew exactly what he is doing, as I thought Winks was excellent and our best player in the pre-season tour overall (Wanyama and Lamela were also very good, but that's to be expected).

I've had enough of Kyle Walker. How he was lauded for his performances at the euros I don't know. His footballing brain has stagnated. The guy should be incredible but it's like he's got a max XP of 165 and he's maxed it out.

Given that last season was arguably Walker's best, and we had the best defence in the league, I find it a bit odd that now's the time some people have 'had enough' of Walker.

Tough one. I staunchly defended Trippier a couple of weeks ago when I think someone suggested it would be better to have Yedlin. But after watching the friendlies, maybe Yedlin would be the better option.

There's various things to consider. Yedlin just turned 23, whilst Trippier will soon turn 26, so in theory Yedlin has much more potential to improve and push Walker more.

On the other hand, although unfortunately he didn't show it in the friendlies, Trippier probably is the best crosser in the senior team, and that was very useful at times, particularly against Watford (twice). I would feel uneasy at having 4 full-backs who's delivery can often be poor.

Finally, you have the KWP question. Although in most cases it would make sense to go with Yedlin as he's 3 years younger, the fact that we have a hugely talented and promising RB in the Academy means that it may not be wise to go with Yedlin, as if we stick with him for a couple of years, it would block KWP and we don't want to be doing that.

In my opinion, in 17/18, KWP should be 2nd choice RB, but I'm really not sure who should be 2nd choice this season. I think I'm leaning towards Trippier still because of his crossing ability, and because the argument that Yedlin should be kept because he has higher potential is kind of invalidated by the fact we have an even more promising RB in Walker-Peters.

From a financial view it makes sense to sell tripier now while he has max value. Keep yedlin for 2-3 years then sell him at max value and bring kwp through then.

As a footballing view i will leave it to poch to decide. He will see a hell of a lot more of the players than we will.

He had a decent season in my view, not much more and even that is characterised mainly by the fact he didn't make as many defensive errors. I don't want to judge someone who has his raw attributes on that I want to see dynamic, intelligent and progressive play from the lad and it just doesn't happen often enough. He's stagnated as a footballer.

Last season Trippier started a little shakily and struggled to get into things. However, he progressed really well and I thought there was a point in the season where he started looking like the better RB out of him and Walker. His play going forward and his final ball were much better, had more of a brain about him whereas Walker was the far more athletic type. We seemed to have a good mix of Rose/Walker where the left side was far better and then Trippier/Davies where the right side was stronger, albeit a generally weaker pair and definitely the B team combination.

Admittedly, I haven't seen the pre-season friendlies so I don't know how Yedlin has gotten on, but I don't think Trippier is to be given up on. He's got something that neither Yedlin, nor Walker can do.

I think he massively improved last season, so he hasn't 'stagnated'. As with Eriksen, some people wouldn't be too worried if they were one day sold, but when it gets to the point that we need to find a replacement, it's very difficult.

I think he was less of a Molotov fucktard last season but a huge part of that was that we had the best defensive front four by some distance (or at least we did when I did the piece) we had two very risk averse and defensively proficient cm's and stuck one of the sturdiest cb's and the best CB pairing next to him. He also saw 30% less of the ball. So it's hard to know how much Walker improved and how much he benefitted from everything defensively improving around him. Because on the - rarer - occasions he was exposed he still looked very iffy to me.

And offensively he has barely improved at all, ever. His technique and lack of intellect invariably fail him under pressure.

Funny that given just how awful he is our manager has continuously picked him as first choice.

Watching Wanyama looks like it is going to be fun this season, bumping up some of your comments on how limited he is.

For someone who gets so much wrong you'd think a bit of humility might be kicking in but I guess not.......

Well first off, i watched him a good few times last year and he showed a lack of cencentration and his pace helped him recover from poor decisions. Second i am told the club are looking to sell for the right price or loan him again thats why he was given time out on tour.
Also a third point is, there is a big quality difference between him and trippier and its not doing him a disservice its just being honest. At the level both players are its not putting them down as they are in team that the level they need is a player in the top 5% of players in the country. Its just a fact some players will not make it. But they will find a place in the football league ladder.
