In the grand scheme of things, the most important thing for me as a fan is to have a good football team who delivers on the pitch. And Aurier helps with that. Aside from that though, to help strengthen that I'd want players I can get behind. They don't have to be stand up heroes donating to charity every month living a god filled life or anything, but I'd like to support decent human beings. So I must admit I was skeptical about this signing. Sure he'd help our team, but he seemed like a kind of terrible human being from all the stories etc... he's been involved in about his past.

With his statement, Proud Lilywhites statement and of course just giving people another chance I'm very happy about this signing. He'll help the team a lot and it sounds like he knows he was wrong and wants to prove himself as a human being as well.

If people have issues with him I don't blame them at all. LGBTQ+ people for sure would and still might have issues with us signing someone who's made homophobic comments. Same way I'd have issues with someone who's made racist comments and that side of things. Yes people can get past that to some degree but I'd still have questions (depends on the severity etc...)

End of the day he's made mistakes and some won't get past that, and that's fine. It sounds like he wants to get past it though, and with that I am open to him trying to prove better for himself whilst also helping the team.

So welcome Aurier. Happy to have you.

So much is being made of his past errors in the media because let's face it, they would love to try and destabilise him before he plays a game for us (just want to make clear, I don't mean the media doing it exclusively to us, I know they would do it regardless of what club he is joining.)

However, I feel his words are genuine when he says this is a fresh start, none of us are perfect, we are only human beings at the end of the day.

And he is a fantastic signing, has to be first choice RB for us imo.

If he's prepared to stick by the released statement, then all power to him.

He must know that if he screws up again, he's likely to become a pariah. With a clean record, he'd probably have got a bigger club than us this summer.

Let us all take a minute to remember media darling Ryan Giggs shagged his own brother's wife. Repeatedly. In the bumhole, probably.

Not having a go at you, just saying if he went to Chelsea the exact same things would be said. Maybe more so. Similarly for Man Utd or anyone. They're saying this about him cause it's about him.

If anything, him coming to us is best because we kinda have a good boy reputation.

Yep for about 11 years too so hardly a case of he tripped over and his cock landed in her fanny (and / or bumhole).

Well what I would suggest to those people is, sometimes, you have to give people a second chance, i am sure we have all been guilty at some point of making inappropriate comments, hell, I was born in the mid 80's and grew up in the 90's the word faggot back then was thrown around as a general insult, I don't think many even realised it was homophobic in nature, you would see it on TV shows etc.

Not that it makes it right but obviously we all come from different cultural backgrounds and use words in different ways and times have changed now in many ways for the better, we have become slightly oversensitive in general now though but I can completely understand the condemning of homophobic slurs, especially with aggressive tone, I mean, I have had gay friends that have and still do, call each other fags but the context is what matters, this is why what Aurier did was unacceptable.

The main thing is the guy seems to have learned from his mistakes, he deserves a second chance, I do not subscribe to the modern witch hunt idea that if one person does something wrong one time then they should be condemned for it forever, people can and often do change in life and we ALL make mistakes, even though some people like to think they are perfect, I assure you, you're not perfect.

If this guy fucks up again then obviously we can cross that bridge when we come to it, I am sure Poch has already made him aware of this and I am sure he is more than aware of this himself.

Oh I have no doubt about that, it isn't specific to us, the media just like having a good dramatic narrative, that's all I am saying.

By all accounts he is defensively better than Trippier thank fuck for that.

Trippier now hopefully reverts back to being number 2 great going forward absolutely hopeless at recovery and actually defending why he was given the number 2 shirt jeezz
