IF Draxler went to United, would that free up Martial to us? Would you prefer Draxler to come to us over any potential Martial deal?
Martial would cost us 60 mil and possibly Rose or Dier, Draxler, even at 40/50 without selling Rose or Dier is a better deal IMO. Selling Rose should be the last thing we do, he is one of the best left backs in the world and he is entering his prime. If we want to win things we need to keep him.

I doubt PSG are going to make an announcement about an appeal against a criminal conviction (which is a private matter).

Perhaps, seeing as he's going anyway but what about the man himself or maybe he's being a good boy and doing what PSG want?

If he was staying I don't know why PSG, and Aurier, wouldn't want the acquittal to be made public. Reputational risk and all that, good for the brand to no longer have that hanging over them.

Mind you, we don't know the findings of the appeal and if the court set any conditions or what not

Just to add something positive on Aurier and sorry if this has been said before but didn't he save a guys life on the pitch after being knocked out by stopping him choking on his tongue?

Yeah he did - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37629637

Can't be all that bad, plus the police are dicks and worse to black people...

*edit* Lol, just read the whole article...

"However, Aurier later caused controversy by making a throat-slit gesture towards the crowd after his side's second goal." - EYE ROLL

Here's an article from the gffn twitter account:

Tottenham close to an agreement with PSG for Serge Aurier
Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur were last night thrashing out the final details of a fee agreement with PSG for the transfer of Ivorian full-back Serge Aurier worth more than €25m, according to L’Équipe.

Aurier has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham, he did so about 10 days ago on a five year contract.

Aurier is Mauricio Pochettino’s priority, with the manager having spoken at length with the player about a possible move.

The deal is subject to a resolution of Aurier’s legal situation; on the 26th September last year the 24-year-old was sentenced to two months in prison for attacking a police officer. A conviction that his team have appealed against.

His lawyer is currently working on an official document that stipulates the outcome of the appeal (which has already been decided but has not been made public) and the non-sentencing of the player to time in prison; but he has not yet obtained it. Several law firms are working on getting this document.

If produced, this document would go a long way to Aurier receiving a work permit; if Aurier does not get that work permit, the deal with Tottenham will be annulled.

In this situation, Inter Milan and Juventus both have agreements over personal terms with Aurier, but he wants the Premier League. Juve want to buy him and then loan him out until January because they do not have another non-EU spot left in their squad; Inter Milan want to do an exchange with PSG including João Mario.

Both potential deals, at the time of writing, have considerable pitfalls for PSG and Aurier.

Possibly the most convoluted transfer ever, no surprise Levy is involved.

The boldened bit is good to see, and should allay some of the fears about the player if Poch has met him a few times, hopefully he just wants to get his head down and play now.

This article, one of many that seem to be based on the same source and are saying much the same thing, says that his lawyers are working to get papers that will formally lift his prison sentence. The implication is that they have informally been told that the appeal has been successful but that the paperwork is lagging. It says that the transfer to Spurs will go through once the formalities are complete.

From an ability perspective I can see why we are going for him over RP.

He looks really quick but also very strong physically. RP looks a lot more slight and defenders are easily bullied in the Premier League.

He looks like would be a good addition but why have PSG gone for an ageing Alves rather than him as starting right back?

Everything still "according to l'Equipe". Be good to hear some other sources report on the confidence over his successful appeal.

Because he wants out!:p
Spot on. It's not that PSG didn't want to keep him. He asked Emery to be sold. Here's what Emery told L'Equipe.

And Emery said the 24-year-old Ivory Coast international is set to depart the French capital, having first arrived from Toulouse in 2014. "I've spoken with Serge to tell him I wanted him to stay here and continue with us," he told L'Equipe. "He told me that he wanted to leave and that he wanted to stay in Paris to prepare for going. "So, we signed Dani Alves, a very experienced player who has the spirit of a champion."

He got a 4yr driving ban.
She was a passenger in his car and was accoring to reports not wearing a seatbelt. Does not excuse Alonso or the stupid court ruling. It is also involuntary manslaughter though, not murder. Semantics, but legally important.

Either way, the fact that Chelsea ignored this and signed him anyway speaks volumes about that wretched club.

I do hope we have our facts straight on Aurier, he is a quality footballer, but morally I would like to think we are not doing the wrong thing here (obviously supposedly assaulting a policeman and a drink driving death are a tad different, but you know what I mean).

You missed out the fact that Alonso was drink driving. For me that's manslaughter, not 'involuntary manslaughter'. You know the potential consequences if you drink drive. Did it anyway. Scumbag.

Well not really, it was in reply to the subject... but let's not derail the Aurier thread further eh. We agree at least on what he is.

Let's see whether Levy in "France" today bears croissants.

I fully expect Aurier to sign now. Perfect replacement for Walker too.
