I've got 100s of points. Villa was my 15th game this season .... 48 last season. I've had my season ticket for 25 seasons and been going for 43.

You telling me to give my season ticket up? Give me a good reason why I should. Did you see the 15,000 empty seats for the Asteras game ?

Nope. Not telling you to do anything am i.

Im just pointing out that you arent going to get a stand of fans jumping around and singing for 90 mins when they are all season ticket holders of 40 years in their 60s and 70s. Which is the only way it can go with the current 'for life' ticketing model and an ageing population with more disposable income than ever before.

But it's also a reflection of society. You only have to look at the impatience in every day life and it rattles around every corridor of football and supporting teams.

I don't know the answer and if anything I can only see it getting worse.

Too expensive for the younger more vociferous fans.
Old farts like myself hate singing, you'll only get the odd "cum on u whites" but thats about it.
All the bigger clubs have quiet home grounds now.

So that it sorted..........we are not the worst by a long way.

It's happening everywhere. It's to do with lots of things. Ticket prices for one. Only people earning high enough wage to attend games can attend regularly. Working class people are being priced out of attending regularly and as a result, there isn't the same familiarity with game going fans that there once was. Different people attending different games once every 3 months or whatever means there's no consistency in the fanbase - it leads to unfamiliarity on the terraces - a reluctance to sing and be boisterous.

The stadium and insistence by stewards to make sure everyone is "behaving" - makes football attending more like going to the theatre going than to football matches of old.

They have cleansed the Premier League football fan.

It is partley and age thing. I don't think we should demonise the over 40s but instead start creating 'ultra stands'. Imagine parklane full of 1882.

Still won't work when we're 1-0 down at home to Burnley.

I think we need to look at the "ultra stand" type solutions.

1882 or whoever were very good at Villa Park - I could hear them in my toilet 170 miles away.

Seriously the Spurs gang were great a VP - UK clubs need to look a the German clubs for ideas at least.

The last time I was in Park Lane End there were people singing- the only problem for me was I didn't know what they were singing. I go when I can but it's tough to sing something you don't know. Do others have this problem or is there a place where the chants are published online? The next time I go I really would like to join in more. Any help greatly appreciated

It is a bit simplistic to just blame the "older" fans
I have been going to WHL, am now in East Lower, since the early sixties and still sing and holler my support for the team. often I think I am the exception to the rule as few around me have much interest in singing and although they are younger than me they still might fit your age bracket.

The lack of vocal support is another thing I blame television for and the all seater stadiums. Too many have become used to watching football matches on their own ( or in small groups) on the TV They watch the play without supporting the team. It really is getting like the theatre and play watch then make their observations after the event; few seem to be part of the game itself. People sitting down dont get so excited or sing ( easily) in that position

There are quite a few who seem to come once in a life time. They have demonstrated their support for Spurs by bringing in their Spurs Shop Bag with a souvenir in it.

The club need to address the problem and help. Certainly singing areas help, why not go back to simple programmes for a quid and print a few of the stand songs in them. There is a family stand where the really young go with their parents so why not have "Yoofs" are where 18 -23's can go ( and it should be affordable ) to create a My Team atmosphere.

Something should be done, but do the club really care, or things will get worse.

Lastly dont believe that it is necessarily better in other countries cos I have been to the Nou Camp a couple of times when Barca have played lesser teams and it was dead.

Edit
PS Perhaps Social Media could be more proactive in supporting the team. This could be done by the supporters rather than the sterile club comms

I think it's got more to do with the creeping realisation that the opportunity to get back into the top four is slowly slipping from our fingers, week by week. Man United and Liverpool have seemingly left the door ajar, but you just know they'll get their act together before we ever do. Every little misplaced pass, scuffed shot and defensive blunder brings with it that unshakeable sense that we're blowing it, again.

I think printing the lyrics to some songs is a brilliant idea.
No one wants to look a knob singing the wrong words and I agree with a previous post, sometimes its hard to hear whats being sung. Especially if you're in with old deafies like me in the North Stand (I'm only 43 but like my grunge/metal a bit too loud).
edit- echoes like hell in this helmet. Maybe next game I'll take it off lol.

You can find most of the chants on YouTube
