Should we bring Comolli back to revive our transfer situation?

Yep, those 4 or cruyff. Theyre the best and It will release levy to sort out the stadium too. The fly in the ointment is harry. He will never work under one. I expect the idea is shelved for one more year

Except he did at Southampton and Portsmouth. It's the way they found to rein in his follies.

Anyone with half a clue about European football at that time would have picked all of them out as having great potential besides maybe Assou Ekotto, who was pretty highly rated in France as it happens. As far as unearthing gems, he didn't really. All those players were considered to have huge potential, players like Gunter, GDS and Boateng already had reputations.

All those players Daniel jumped on, because of their potential, some have paid off big time while a load of the others haven't. Too many of Comolli's signings were completely unsuitable at that time for a PL campaign it's as simple as that. They were all too green, Younes is the perfect example.

Look at the players he went for at Liverpool, recognized names in PL football and he seems to have gotten some of them very wrong just like he did for us (CoughcoughBentleyCoughcough).

I haven't seen anything in his transfer dealings that has shown me he's anything more than a half way decent scout, when he got the word in Levy's ear look at the state we were in afterwards. He was at the heart of that.

Good riddance to bad rubbish IMO, I'd just like to see Harry backed to that extent in the market to be honest. Harry is a better judge of a player and what a team needs than a lot of you would dare to give him credit for.

If I could reach through the screen and slap anyone, it would be you Dan.

Yes let's bring Comolli back, that went so well the first time around and he did such a sterling job at Anfield there before he got the heave ho.

We're still lumbered with some of his shit for fuck's sake.
Obviously it seems that Spurs are the only team in the Premier League who get lumbered with unwanted players.

Why on earth can't we follow the example of other clubs with their 100% success rate in identifying players? Why can't we get be like Arsenal and sign great players at low cost like Jeffers, Wright, Bentdner, Gervinho, Chamakh, Denilson, Eboue, Almunia, Senderos, Baptista, etc? Or ManU with Evans, Veron, Bebe, Obertan, Macheda, Smith, Djemba-Djemba, Bellion, Kleberson, Poborsky, Jordi Cruyff, etc, etc?

Every club has their share of failures and successes.

Whatever is said there is no doubt the club has improved in the last 6-7 years and is actually challenging for something, despite some unsuccessful signings.

What holds us back is the fact we abide to the rules of financial common sense and don't have a corrupt billionaire owner using us as a toy on a whim

Can I ask you what the excuse was for the poor signings before Comolli when the premier league 1st started? - even under Sugar we were outspending Arsenal and most other clubs yet ended up with dreadful dross that never paid off or were cast off by other clubs - Kerslake? Cundy? Andy Grey? Kevin Scott? Ruel Fox? etc

Comolli has lost his touch and did a terrible job at Liverpool, Spurs should not take him back.

What about Anderton, Klinsmann, Sheringham? Look how far you're going back anyway, we we a mid table side then at best usually...this is a different game now. Comparitavely Comolli had shedloads thrown at him to help the club break that mythical 5th barrier we were at, it failed.

This is a Comollli thread. I don't want him back.
