It does my head in when players moan about how their former club could have done more to keep them. What would you have liked them to do Shay? Offer you more money? Promise you some silverware?

You've just joined the richest club in the world, probably got a nice pay rise and have more chance of winning silverware than at Newcastle. Stop moaning!

He should just move on, Given had been very loyal to Newcastle, so he should have good thoughts about them.

Yeah I hate that too, it's like....

"I'm off, you lot are shit, I should've gone years ago"
"I'm really going"
"I fucking mean it"
"seriously, once I'm gone I'm not coming back"
"definitely this time"
"see ya!"
"seriously"!!!
"ok bye"

"they've could've done more"

He was having a pop at the owner and the management, not the support.

Who said otherwise?

Not me! Yeah he was a great servant to the club, but he said himself that he was disillusioned with life and wanted to leave. It's no surprise they didn't try harder to keep him. If a player wants to go, then take the money and say goodbye.

I was quite riled at this too esp his comments about how they treated his family... TREATED HIS FAMILY!!!!!!!!!! What you mean that paying you 30 odd grand a fucking week (and the rest!!!) isn't treating his family.

Fucking tosser.

Yes, it's all Kinnear's fault. Given clearly names him as the prime reason he jumped ship.

Oh no, he doesn't. You just imagined it. As you do.

When will you ever shut up. But on the other hand......i knew you couldn't leave it alone.

Dinosaur standing up for dinosaurs, it's obviously something we'll have to live with. I don't expect you to understand that any player with ambitions would leave a club that digs up someone like Kinnear to be manager. It must motivate a player when the stoneage comes crawling back and from minute one starts with his emberrassing quotes and behaviour. Classy

It was a simple question. Not simple enough, clearly.

Anybody having a go at Newcastle can't be all bad.
If it causes rancour in their camp at this most difficult time good.
Sure footballers are out of touch with reality but this is a problem for toon so good.

Apparently Kinear called him Gay River in a post match interview, he just couldn't play for him after that
