Sigardsson doesn't deserve to be a number 10 in our team

I like Siggy he is a very deceptive type of player and I beg to differ on people saying he has no vision. He works very hard has a good touch and plays some telling passes IMO, his goal scoring capablities are also good.

His not a Modric nor Van De Vaart but his still a dangerous player.

There are areas where he is really good and to get best out of him we ought to add more creativity to team. He is not an creative no.10 even if he has some creativity in him, more of an goalscoring no.10 whose main assets are good off the ball movement wether to create space for others or to get himself in positions and good peg which add to decent goalthreat. Even more, if we lose Bale and add Willian, Siggy becomes rather pivotal as he becomes almost sole player outside main striker to offer proper goal threat.

He played well barring that chance which he really should've scored. I found him both imaginative and intelligent, and he moved around to show for the ball constantly.

I hope no-one accidentally called the OP some kind of massive idiot. Because they'll get banned.

Same as calling him a Class A twat with serious seeing deficiencies.

Please no-one do either or both of those things. Because you'll get banned.

To recap: massive idiot and blind Class A twat ARE OUT.

Guardian has him as the MOM.
Just saying.
I don't think he played that well yesterday and missed agood chance that should have been put away.
Attitudes might have been very different if he had.
Good player. Needs the team to settle in around him.

Siggy problem is that he holds up play too frequently.... even when players are running around him... just doesn't have the confident of releasing the ball early.

True but tbh they were all guilty of that to some degree it was there last season as well a seeming lack of confidence or hesitancy to release the ball which allows teams to get back in position and stops any initiative we've built up.

He had a decent game and had he scored his two chances he'd have got MOTM but there were better players

Better or worse than Soldado is relevant - Gylfi always seems to have his legs on the wrong way round and he loses the ball far too often - not sure what will happen with our Gylfi.

He should've scored - but we will see.

I don't like to slag any of our players off

He's 23 and already a very good player in my opinion. He isn't going to be Bale, but is a very useful member of the team. Put it this way, whether Bale stays or goes, he won't be in our 'best 11' so why not just support him for when he's playing?

he had a great effort saved by the way.

I love it when people talk about players 'not deserving' to play for Spurs.

If only that mantra was applied to the fans then WHL would be a much nicer place because there's sure as shit lots of fans who 'don't deserve' to support any football team.

I wonder if this thread would exist if he had put that chance away..

Part of it being the most popular sport in the world - doesn't matter how many intelligent, patient and positive fans we have or that post on this board, there is always going to be an element of reactionary, daft and impatient fans that like to write people off far too quickly and don't understand the finer nuances of what the ownership, board or indeed manager are trying to do. Its the law of averages. I could say its one of the things that makes it the best sport in the world, but I'd be pushing my luck....

I like Siggy, I think he's a good player, but he is not to be played off the striker.

He should be arriving on the end of things, be it rebounds, crosses, pull backs, half clearances, for him to sweep into the goal. He shouldn't be the creative hub of the attack because he does not have the vision and can only play the way he is facing (a problem with all our central midfielders save Carroll and perhaps Holtby, who are not 10's either).

Siggy can do a job on the left, I think he would be good in a central 3 midfield as the goal scorer (Lampard esque), but he isn't going to play blind passes, through balls or link the play in the way we want/need.

We either need a player in that position who is more creative, put his foot on the ball and dictate play or we need to play a DM and 2 CM's, for me a DM with Dembele and Paulinho pushing forward more would have been more effective, i like Sigurdsson but i don't think he fits what we need, Eriksen for me would be a much better proposition for a No.10..

He played better than Soldado...

Disagree. Soldado scored his only chance, Gylfi missed three good ones. Soldado had fuck all service, but his movement was good all game, plus he made arguably the best pass of the game to set up Gylfi.

It's not Soldado's fault that he isn't getting the service.

Gylfi I think if playing week in week out is a dangerous player but I don't think even he himself thinks he is good enough to do that at Spurs.

He is still quite young and a great impact player, I think its a question of belief as well as ability as he is good and will improve but how much ?
