If we do get Poulsen in January he won't be eligible to play in the Wafer Cup for us.

I'm sure he is because he is playing in the CL with Sevilla, unless they drop to the Uefa like Benfica last year, which I believe is why Rocha wasn't eligible. Can anyone clarify?

Also I guess it's not desperate to buy in January if you want the player anyway.

As long as we bring in at least one tough b****** for the centre of midfield, with plenty of experience, late 20's, numerous caps for their country and ditto for centre back, I'll be happy.

Also a creative left winger with a left foot would be nice.

YEs Keita and Poulsen both look excellent for Sevilla (from what I have seen)
Hopefully Ramos was the main man involved in selecting these players for them and more importantly... hopefull his coaching is what made them preform so well

It's unlikely. Ramos was apparently behind the Kanoute deal, but since Monchi has been at the club, they have continually done superbly in both the transfer market and their own youth devlopment. When Jol joked he was worried about Comollis job when he heard the club was in Seville, because Monchi is the best, he was probably right. Before Ramos was at the club Monchi had bought the likes of Renato, Adriano, Alves, Baptista, Navas, Palop and Navarro for next to nothing.

yes that is true. It's not a carpet ban for european competion you're just inelligible for the Competions you've already played in. Seville are through to the CL knock out and so all of thier players would be elligible for the UEFA cup if they signed in Jan.
However!!! if you were poulsen why would you want to leave to play UEFA if you know you'll be playing CL in the new year? I would have serious reservations over any player we signed who demonstrated such limited ambition.

Poulsen was free in 2006, but we paid £8 million for Zokora instead. Last year Keita went to Seville for 4 million euros, whilst we paid £5.2 million for KPB.

Maybe we should have gotten their DOF in instead of Ramos. (Both will be best of course) Heh, might work better both financially and players quality wise.

Y'know what? I REALLY like Kaboul's attitude.

It's obvious he's desperate to win the fans over and I think the kid's got some serious talent.

It's a shame he's been thrown to the lions in a way, but I think he'll be stronger for it.

Can't wait to see him play next to King.

yes, but on the one hand you have Monchi who is, well, damn good at what he does

and on the other hand i'm pretty sure that prices are immediately hiked up as soon as any english club come along.

either that or we can just blame comolli and levy for not conducting transfers properly....the useless bastards!!!!

Money?

Anyway, it doesn't look like Sevilla will have CH L football guaranteed for the next seasons. Atletico Madrid and Villareal are getting stronger and Sevilla have lost Juande, an important factor in their success.

Jol was crying out for a proven CB and 2 midfielders (CM and LF) Ramos comes in and looks like he might be getting them! can you see how much backing the board and DoF gave Jol then

We can really spot talent even when it is hidden under many layers of rubbish!

What's alarming is that we bought BAE from Lens, yet apparently failed to spot Keita. Missing Poulsen is one thing, missing a player in your professed area of expertise quite another. I've no problem whatsoever with Prince Bong, and Sevilla clearly identified him as a player with real potential. I believe that he'll be well worth that £5m in a couple of seasons' time. Nevertheless, we do seem to have missed out on a couple of tricks.

I also believe that you will be very happy that we bought KPB for that price, in a couple of seasons.
But i also think that Keita is an extremely useful player and it is strange that not only we, but a lot of teams missed out on him, a real steal for Sevilla.
Still I think the Prince will be better in two seasons or so, because i think he has loads of potential, Sevilla also wanted him ahead of Keita, if i'm not mistaken.

With Valencia having some difficulities this season, does anyone know what David Albelda's situation is there? Could he become available?

Based on no evidence - Comolli probably shortlisted both KPB and Keita. But the club decided on KPB over Keita.

A good theory. What we do know for sure is that Sevilla shortlisted both KPB and Keita, and decided on KPB over Keita. They lost out to us, so had to settle for Keita.

But still, I'm sure it's somehow Comolli's fault or something.

Didnt we pay 5.2 mill EUROS for KPB? Anyway, I guess 4 million euros for Poulsen and Keita beats 19 million pounds for Jenas and Zokora...

IF this info from BEN is true players like Tainio and Taarabt can't really be rated highly. Two new midfielders sounds a bit too much, would be happy with just the one. Would still love to see Mendes back at the Lane....
