its a good college town though. birds everywhere.

I played tennis at 2 colleges in Texas. The whole experience was very positive.

Thanks.. Are they as passionate about their 'soccer' team as they are about everything else U.S.A?

Most of us ex-pats go to local pubs run by Brits. My local pub, however is owned by a Toon. We do have to put with Ar**, Manure, Pool and Chelski fans.

I think I can help here, kind of anyway!

Firstly where in L.A. is your 3rd choice campus?

Secondly Long Beach and Northridge. I know them both quite well. Are you talking about CSUN in Northridge and Cal State Long Beach?

Northridge is suburbia in a big way. If you plan to live close to the coast in Long Beach personally I'd take there any day of the week. There is loads to do nearby and you're in a great spot to get around Los Angeles. When I think of Northridge I think of house after house and malls.

I have never been to Fullerton, I hear it's nice. It's nowhere near the coast though.... The downtown there is supposed to be cool.

If it was me I'd go for Long Beach as the nightlife is great, the beach is close and you're close (ish) to places like Hermosa Beach which are great fun to go out in

If you're out here on a budget perhaps Northridge might be better, you'll have a lot quieter time!

PM me if you have any more specific questions.

Yes CSUN and CSULB mate, appreciate the help. Long beach is my first choice so its good what you've told me, as I feel a lot happier with my decision now!

The L.A campus as far as im aware is close to central l.a.. I think maybe just east of L.A.

Ill pm you if I have any further queries, appreciate the advice mate!

Anyone know any where else apart from Floyds to watch the Blackburn game on Saturday morning?

Floyds might be a bit far from where I'm staying in Long Island City.

Since the Blackburn match is at 7:45 am local time, any tv will do. It should be on ESPN2, which is NOT a PPV. I will be watching it from my bed.

Might be worth asking on the NYSpurs website mate, I think there's a thread where you can ask NY related questions without having to register.

Not sure if anyone can answer but is there anywhere decent to watch the game tomorrow in Pasadena?

Looking on the LA Spurs website it looks like Lucky Baldwins is where you normally go (but tomorrow you'll all going to Redondo beach instead?).

Yeah we are mate, we're heading down to the South Bay as many of the people that attend come from that part of town and we hardly ever get the chance to go down there.

If you're in Pasadena Lucky Baldwin's is definitely the way to go. We'll be at On the Rocks in Redondo Beach

I don't have time to get to Redondo as I have an early breakfast meeting before the game and it's too far away :-(

Is Lucky Baldwins ok? Someone mentioned it the other day when talking about "English Pubs" here and gave the impression it was a bit of a dive.

I might end up just watching it online depending when my meeting finishes but thought I'd check out the options.

Cheers

It looks like there's a chance I could be stuck here for a few more days. Any advice on what's worth doing tourist-wise?

I was thinking of going to Hollywood tomorrow (gold line to Union then red line to hollywood/highland the easiest way?) then maybe griffith park or the LA Zoo if I'm still stuck here monday.

Stuff like Santa Monica/Venice Beach are quite a long way on public transport, are they worth the effort?
