If a 20 year old prospect is at Spurs right now, watching the opportunities being given - sometimes from nowhere - to young players. Watching the exciting transformation that is going on through the club, and then decides they won't sign a new contract with us - well I would suggest that at best they lack confidence in their abilities or at worse, a difficult b*gger looking out for themselves.

Problem is that he has been 'ready' for opportunities and almost stagnating in the U21's for two years now. At the time I'd say he looked more ready to step up to first team level than Bentaleb was. He benched a few times, then iirc got an injury, and then came back and benched and maybe got one sub appearance. Since then, through a poor loan choice, injury and more U21 football things, have stalled completely.

He was also always playing above his age group (he played first team friendlies, and didn't look out of place at all, at 15 remember) and so has been playing U21 football for 3-4 seasons now... I can see why young players have a breaking point and aren't prepared to wait any longer without signs of progression if they feel 'stuck'.

Strange that he's still playing and captaining the U21's if his future doesn't lay with the club.

If I remember correctly, when Ceballos wouldn't sign a contract he was frozen out completely.

Others, like Winks, Bentaleb, Onomoah, signed new contracts at the start of the season in the hope that it would lead to playing time with first team. It was a gmable on their part, but in reality the only chance they had of making a break through with Spurs this year.

Milos decided he was better than that and was insistent upon first team football before signing a contract - and it is a real shame because both parties could be losers.

He has certainly had potential for a number of years, but injuries during loan spells away from the club has not helped his cause to prove a point.

Some say he doesn't fit in with the style Poch wants - if that's the case so be it because in general the decision making by our manager has been spot on.

Others say, that Poch's hands are tied because the policy is to never play players in last season of contract.

Shame it's come to this but life goes on.

Always been a prospect BUT, at 20 he is older than Dier when he started playing regular games for Spurs and older than Dele who is now obviously on his way to Madrid etc etc bla bla (office a holes today sorry!)

Point is, whilst he may be a good prospect he is unlikely to be as good as some of the young players already playing. We cannot keep everyone that comes through the youth so if we have to lose him it is indeed a shame but not something we cannot live without.
There's a lot of truth in this. He's been around a few years, I don't think he's started a game for us and he's had a couple of loan spells where he hasn't played that much. A number of coaches at Spurs and Charlton and Milddlesboro have had him available and not used him. A lot of the posts here suggest we've lost a real talent. With kids it's tough to know but the likes of Alli, Dier and Bentaleb have done more at roughly the same age.

Unfortunately with the age of our current midfielders, unless he is better than what we have he won't get in for some time, he obviously feels he is ready. For me, if a 19 year old can come in from 2 leagues below and be in the starting line up, he would have been given opportunities to shine in training etc. we have a great young squad and can't keep them all. I trust our management set up to make the right decisions.

You're being a bit economical with the truth here, mate: MV couldn't be played for a long period over that loan due to a bad injury he got early on.

Milos will be a very good senior player. We will miss out.

Any set of rules need to be applied with common sense and discretionary decisions made on occasion. We do not seem to be applying that kind of policy.
