Today we welcome Blackburn to White Hart Lane where 3 points for either side could see either team jump up to 14th in the league. We also welcome back Robbo who I would like think will get an awesome reception from the fans, he is a top bloke who despite not being at his best over the last 18 months of his career at Spurs always gave 100% and really did care about the club and fans. I would also like to add that we should be getting behind Gomes in the same way we got behind Robbo, because at the end of the day he is our current keeper and that isn't going to change over night.

The Official Site Team News:

Harry Redknapp reports 'one or two little problems' on the injury front as he prepares for Blackburn on Sunday.

Luka Modric and Giovani are out with groin and ankle injuries respectively while Jonathan Woodgate is expected to recover from illness.

"Jonathan Woodgate has had a bit of a virus, but hopefully he'll be okay. Other than that, we're not too badly off," said Harry on Friday afternoon.

"Luka Modric hasn't trained all week with his groin injury and is out for a couple of weeks, that's a blow because he's been terrific for us and the same with Giovani, he's out for a few weeks yet."

Skysports.com Preview:

Resurgent Spurs take on free-falling Blackburn in a crucial clash being shown live on Sky Sports 1 at 1.30pm on Sunday.

The pair are both in the relegation zone but have vastly differing form coming into this six-pointer at White Hart Lane.

New boss Harry Redknapp has galvanised Spurs since taking over, with his side embarking on a six game unbeaten run to climb off the bottom of the Premier League.

While that run was ended by Fulham last weekend after a howler by keeper Heurelho Gomes, Spurs will be full of confidence for the visit of Blackburn.

In stark contrast, Paul Ince's Rovers are now in a relegation dogfight after what was a positive start to the campaign.

They have gone seven Premier League games without a win, and dropped into the relegation zone after their 2-1 reverse at home to Sunderland last weekend.

Rovers now sit just a point above Redknapp's team and Ince will be desperate for a positive result to lift the increasing pressure.

Team news

Luka Modric will be missing for the home side after picking up a groin injury in the defeat to Fulham.

The Croatian is out for two weeks after suffering a partial tear and Aaron Lennon could replace him, as he did at Fulham.

But Redknapp is set to continue with Gomes after giving the hapless keeper a vote of confidence in midweek.

For Blackburn, Benni McCarthy could come back into the side following a family bereavement.

The striker featured in South Africa's 3-2 midweek victory over Cameroon, as did Aaron Mokoena.

Rovers' other internationals also came through their various midweek games unscathed, notably Keith Andrews, who marked his Republic of Ireland debut with a goal in the 3-2 loss against Poland.

But Vince Grella remains on the sidelines until next month with a hamstring injury.

25 Years Ago Today

Bayern 1 Spurs 0 UEFA Cup

The previous season a weakened Spurs side had crashed out of the European Cup Winners’ Cup competition on a fog-bound night against Bayern, when no-one could see the pitch. However, on this occasion, in freezing conditions (-5C), Spurs gave a good account of themselves defensively, only conceding the goal in the final five minutes, thus giving themselves a good chance with the return leg to be played at White Hart Lane. This is a huge game for us. Fulham; we got caught patting ourselves on the back for getting out of relegation and now we have to start again. Gomes has really got to get his act together and I hope the break worked because Blackburn will see him as a weakness they can exploit. Without Modric I think we need 2 up front wether it is Campbell or Pavluchenko I'm not sure, is Pav too similar to Bent or can Pav learn to hold the ball up like Teddy did?

3-1 Spurs

Corluka at LB

Today I rekon we should play Corluka at LB and put Hutton at RB. Therefore our full backs would be solid defencively, but also be able to go forward. This would perhaps mean dropping Bale.

Corluka v Fulham, kept the ball very well through shielding the ball as he has good upper body strength, he has good dribbling and passing ability too. Therefore we rarely lost the ball on the right side. He also doesn't leave him self exposed, as he doesn't go sprinting up and down the wing. This would be a perfect partner at full back fora winger like Lennon (or maybe Bale). As they would get plenty of cover and toughen up that side of the pitch. As if you had Bale at LB and Lennon at LM, it would be far too attacking. Another thing to add is Corluka played LB v Liverpool and adapted to that position very well.

Hutton is a quality player too and so he needs to return to the 1st team imo. His recent games have been poor but that's because he has not been 100% fit and he is still relatively new to the Spurs set-up. He would make a very good partner for Bentley imo, as he pushes up more than Corluka, has more pace (which makes up for Bentley's lack of it) and can beat players, therefore being able to make space (by attracting defenders) to pass for Bentley to get balls in the box. They both did it v Bolton for Pav's goal..

Also, Bale was woeful against Fulham, he lost the ball on many occassions and our left side struggled defencively. Perhaps he could play LM, but for me Lennon is the better option as he looked very threatening when he came on v Fulham.

My Team Selection would be:
Gomes
Hutton Woody King Corluka
Bentley Jenas Huddlestone Lennon
Pav Bent

COYS!!

I'm afraid not bubble but surely a bit of googling will provide you with an answer? I'm on the train now, on the way to the match. The snow's cleared up but it's raining quite heavily. I knew I shouldn't have planned to walk from london bridge to Liverpool street. Anyhoo, lawro suggested that Blackburn have started to try and play more football under ince and have consequently lost some of their competitive edge. I expect us to win, scoring a couple, but the pitch could be a bit heavy with water and it may be hard for us to play a passing game. It's definately worth testing robbo from distance, especially with shots that bounce in front of the goal as the conditions make it a bit unpredictable. Based on how robbo did with us, we should also make sure we've got someone following in in case he spills the ball or parries it back into the danger area. I think we will be most vunerable to set pieces again and I'm slightly concerned about the threat samba offers at corners.

I'm sure Blackburn fans will be saying similar things about gomes. I fully expect the post game reviews to be a tale of two keepers.
