I think Ramos' move to take him off was an excellent one. gives him motivation to improve. Hopefully Juande will take him to one side in training and explain exactly where kaboul is failing.

It worried me the talk last week of a french contingent of players causing trouble with jol. It reminds me of the clique problem at arsenal a few years back, with their french players. The common denominator? Comolli. I hope the suggestion above that Kaboul doesn't speak english is not true. If there's a clique that aren't talking to other players on or off the field, we have a problem. Even without that, Dawson and Kaboul need to be talking to each other far more. A defence works on discipline and organisation, which can't work if each player plays for themselves.

great move by ramos, always felt kaboul was too unpredictable as he's so young, so he gives him a chance then when our defence looks awful doesn't whinge about how we havent got king, he just reshuffles to make it more stable, excellent

and kaboul will be a great player in the future :)

The biggest thing about tonights game was the substitution of Kaboul. It’s a HUGE message to the players if your not getting the job done, someone else will come in!! Long may this continue

If we carry on playing the pressing game like tonight, then I don't see Hudd playing that much...

ANY manager would have taken Kaboul off, and Lee was found wanting along with Bent!

Sadly, Kaboul was very poor tonight, but please let's not write him off as the new Ramon Vega. Chimbo actually seemed happier at CB, and Daws certainly looked much more like his old self once Ramos made the switch. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Ramos kept them together as CBs on Saturday and played TT or Salty at RB.

Zokora was pretty meh, and I was a bit surprised Ramos didn't replace him with Prince Bong. Jenas was slightly less so. Robbo had a couple of fumbles and managed a comedy pratfall, but on the plus side pulled off a cracking reaction save and made our first goal. Lee was busy, although he got caught out a couple of times, so was Steed (who actually managed to keep going until the final whistle). Lennon was perpetual motion and caused a lot of trouble, but really needs to have the confidence to shoot more often. Made a great tackle late on. More commitment from Berbs, Keano put on a pretty good show, JD was denied a goal by a class save, but why didn't he go for the corner? Bent didn't have much time to impress and looked short on confidence.

Blackpool acquitted themselves very well, played some nice football and were quick and effective at closing us down in their box. Robbo's save and the crossbar (Chimbo going to sleep again) prevented embarrassment. Their fans were great, too.

A lot of food for thought for Ramos.

Kaboul is a U21 French international and has been dompted the next Desailly by the french media, he has had to adapt very quickly to the premier league an actually had some very solid performances for us this year already (3 goals).

To ask such a task of such a young player to adapt to the pace of english football in so short time was always gonna be impossible, and as was posted above we won so that should compensate the bad performance by kabby, if we had lost everyone on here would be asking for his head.

Give the boy a chance and he will shine he is a very adaptable player for all situations and is even captain of the french U21's so one for the future.

No-one should be getting on his back (although the usual brain donors will), but by the same token it can't be denied that he was very poor tonight. This is the risk we took; buy potential, or a tried and tested CB (and maybe we were calculating that Ledders would be back sooner). I'm not entirely sure why we couldn't do both, but there you go.

He's got far more pluses than minuses, and I'm sure Ramos will work on the former (maybe have Kaboul and Daws strapped into chairs with their eyelids taped open watching a loop of Rio and Vidic/Carragher and Agger).

Kaboul has some major flaws to his game.

he wonders around the pitch going on one of his mazy runs irrespective of who's covering or how many attackers are left forward, and more worryingly, he gets distracted by off the ball incidents to the point where the game is secondary, i have seen a couple of times the team we are playing attacking and Kaboul more interested in having a go at an opponent.

Jaunde will have none of that, he's already hired Darren Campbell... (to Carry T'Hudd on his back Yoda Stylee)

i dont think Jaunde will be able to make much impact on our play whilst we have two games every week though...

Maybe we shouldn't look too much into the substitution.

Juande Ramos admitted there was plenty of room for improvement throughout the squad after marking his first game in charge of Tottenham with an unconvincing Carling Cup victory over Blackpool.

Spurs reached the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Robbie Keane and Pascal Chimbonda, but there was nervousness in the defence Ramos inherited from Martin Jol this week.

"I would say the team needs to improve in all areas, in attack and defence, but this is a team of great professionals and I hope it will improve quickly," Ramos said.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher smacked the crossbar with a header in the second half and also forced a fine save from Paul Robinson.
Ramos still saw enough to give him encouragement ahead of the clash against Middlesbrough on Saturday when Spurs will look to climb out of the bottom three of the Barclays Premier League. "The most important thing was the victory," the Spaniard added. "The team's played well generally, they had spells of good football. We have to look forward to the next round.

"On the positive side they've shown great willingness to play and fought very hard, physically it was very hard because it was three days since the last game. The negative side was the chances Blackpool had."

Younes Kaboul was guilty of mistakes at the back and may have been punished against tougher opposition than a side 20th in the Coca-Cola Championship. The young French centre-back did not even acknowledge Ramos when he was taken off in the second half. Dimitar Berbatov also came off but did not give his manager a warm greeting, while Keane embraced the new man.

Ramos explained that Kaboul's substitution was a precaution. "The change was simply because Kaboul had a yellow card - Chimbonda can play at centre-back," Ramos said.

Ramos' first win means he is now two ties from Wembley but admitted the need for victory forced him to pick his strongest team.

"It was very important to get the victory, to calm the team down a bit," he said. "To get a result tonight was vital."

So, coule be cos he was playing poorly, or could be genuine reasons given. Anything's possible, Robbo did have an injury after all. Typical media shite about Berbie though.

Good to see he's picked up quickly how good our midfield is and doesn't need work  :bang:
