Bissouma was head and shoulders above any other midfielder on that pitch tonight. If his case gets resolved we need to pick him up, but I have a feeling that he'll end up at United...
I doubt it. I weirdly think his profile as a star player isn't big enough and they'll want someone like Kessie or Brozovic.

They seem to have such a strange transfer policy now compared to the SAF days when they used to do great in the market in all price ranges. Now they're trying to be the British Real Madrid instead, but failing spectacularly :p

ooooo ooo and shout out to big dave.. he did well too!!! saw him at cf at 1 point as well lmao!!!!
Yeah that was quite bizarre. Wasn't the aftermath of a corner or free kick, just a switch to Emerson who nodded across goal to the on-rushing........Sanchez?

Not a great second half in my opinion. Never really got to grips with Brighton's changes and were frequently right out of shape, and every aspect of our game dropped off tbh.

We'd ultimately done enough first half though, and the next round awaits.

Agree regarding second half.

But we were better than 'done enough first half' though. We were excellent.

Definitely deserved it overall.

Good win and a shame Bergwijn didn't finish his clear chance to put a shine on things. By the sounds of it, Romero and Bentancur could make a difference for our consistency and push for top 4.

I'm interested in what people thought of Royal's performance. I have doubts about him, but would like him to play 8 or 10 games in a row to see if he can push on in that position. Those wing back positions are key and we need end product from both sides.

Entertaining performance. Great to see Romero and Sonny back and to see the new boys who I thought contributed well. Bergwijn and Son should have taken their chances to make it more comfortable. Good win

A little word on the new players, I thought Kulesevski looked a bit unsure for the first five minutes but soon got warmed up and once he started getting on the ball he looked comfortable and a proper player.
Bentancur on first viewing looks a bit of a thoroughbred from the first minute, read the game well made some good accurate passes under pressure and looks so smooth on the ball, he seemed to cruise effortlessly around the pitch.
Early impressions I know but if I turn out to be right we've done well bringing them in.

I reeeeally think that it's a bit soon to make a judgment though. I know that I'm getting old but it used to be traditional to wait more than half an hour to make a judgement call.

Hence why I said "from the little I've seen".

I'm hardly gonna say "from the little I've seen, we should sign Bissouma over Kessie", which is what you seem to be assuming. Like I said, I know which one from what I have seen I prefer the look of up to now, but I know that can easily change from now until the summer after seeing more of the both of them.

Overall a good performance especially in the first half when our passing was crisp and we broke at pace. We started the second half poorly, I thought, and allowed them too much time and space. Luckily they lack clinical finishers but we won’t be so lucky against the likes of ManU or Chelsea.
The new boys looked good especially Bentancur who is going to be a big plus in our midfield.
Romero looked immense and Sanchez along side him was very good.
That was a full strength Brighton team and that was only their second away loss in 90 minutes this season. The fact that it was so comfortable(Son, twice, and Berwjin missed sitters) shows that Conte has us moving in the right direction.

Dembele spent the first half of his career playing as a striker.

About 55 of them he scored as a forward at AZ and youth level as well. Come on now :p
Their goalscoring record as midfielders is about the same.
You have both missed the point, it's not that Dembele, was a good goalscorer, it was that Bissouma isn't a goalscoring Dembele.

Take just the PL stats, where Dembele never played as a forward:

Dembele
Played: 243
Scored: 12
Average: 1 goal every 20.25 games

Bissouma
Played: 100
Scored: 2
Average: 1 goal every 50 games

If we both misinterpreted your point, perhaps then your point wasn't clear? And as stated, neither are goalscoring midfielders. I think Bissouma's goal today was his first in something like two years?

Perhaps neither of you read the post I responding too, else it should have been clear.

Anyway, let's not derail the thread with wether Bissouma or Dembele are goalscoring midfielders, since it looks like neither of us think either of them are.

I must be getting old, just got back from the game, some young chap asked if I needed help.
I arrived from Washington this morning.
I walked about 4 miles before lunch.
Had a meeting on face time back in the States.
Took a 2 hour nap this afternoon.
Walked Tottenham Hale to stadium and back.
Completely knackered now but was it worth it, yes, we won.

The love in over Bissouma is crazy their midfield for the first half hour where went 2 up went missing Spurs continually run off the back of them they offered little going forward and next to nothing defensively . For rest of the game he was fine but the game was lost . I am not saying he is a bad player but for the crucial part of tonights game Winks and Hojberg outflanked him

The only 2 players I've seen us play against this season that scare me are Bissouma and Declan Rice. Both of them immense
