anybody noticed that kane probably had his best game for us all season. coincidently moura didn't play with kane for maybe the first game all season? (not sure on my fact) but as good of a player that moura is, his presence in the team really negates kane's impact on the game and is dropped deeper to accommodate moura's pace? just my opinion

Bit more to it than that I think.

Whilst it's true Lucas was being played further forward than Kane we still hadn't had a fit Eriksen, Dele or Son on the pitch so I believe Poch was trying to make best of the situation by playing Kane deeper in order to aid our chance creation.

Saturday was then first time we managed to get Kane/Son/Eriksen and Dele on the pitch together since April which meant a return to familiarisation which is why we looked better.

I personally think that Lucas can play the role of Son whilst Kane is able to maintain his best performances, we just need players to be able to create chances and if a fit Eriksen and Dele are on the pitch together than Kane and Lucas can both play in their favoured roles.

My Dad, who was lucky enough to watch the bloody thing, said Lloris kicked it out long more in this game than the entire 2 seasons combined. He was moaning that not one so called expert or pundit even fkin mentioned this startling fact. You're the first I've seen mention it so well done lol.
Keeper going long every now and then is a good thing when a team are trying to press high. They cant be up both ends of the pitch at the same time! We did the same against Liverpool, RM and BD last season which imo were arguably 3 of our best performances but for some reason we stopped doing it.
Its long been a bugbear of mine and my dad that teams keep playing into the high press trap. Mix it up, go long a few times and it'll fk them up. They'll have to drop deeper which buggers up their entire game plan. Once the high press is no longer there then you can start playing out from the back and keeping the ball.
It was a tactical masterstroke from Poch (well, bloody obvious imo but Sarri didnt see it coming), no way Lloris just suddenly started doing that off his own back right from the off.
In game management seems a thing of the past these days which also gets on my tits. You cant say 'we play out from the back no fkin matter what' because high press teams WANT you to do that. You'll fk it up eventually, its inevitable. Mix it up. It makes it hard for teams to know how to deal with you.

Ooh I'm ranting. Sorry.
Anyway, good shout on Lloris (y)

I did mention it on Sunday. Why we haven’t done it more this season I’ll never know, especially against Liverpool and Man City. Kane is so good at winning the ball and keeping it sticking to him.

Harsh on Moura. With the team bossing Chelsea all over the park, Moura would have created havoc IMO. Great to have him as an option though.

Dele and Eriksen have also been eased back in from injury spending some time on bench and making cameos meaning they were a bit fresher.

And Son has also had vital rest time recently.

You do wonder also if they now have had kick up bum as likes of Lamela and Moura have been playing quite well this season so they know if they don't perform, they could be dropping to bench, which we haven't always had in recent seasons due to Lamela's long injury absence and Moura settling in second half of last season.

I don't think you can reasonably compare playing Chelsea (open field) to the more defensive outfits. As Chelsea looked to expand the play, the gaps opened up for us. Moura would have had a lot of fun out there had he played. Just my onions.

Sorry I missed your post but your bang on, this is exactly how we should play against your Liverpool, Man City and any high press quality team.
What I cant understand is why other teams cant see it. Its obvious.
Until they do I suppose we'll just keep seeing teams concede goals when they had the ball in or around their goal area but kept fkin about with it.

I know why they do do it but there’s definitely mileage in hitting it long when you’ve a forward of kane’s Quality to win the ball. If the keeper does it a few times and he doesn’t win the ball then go back to playing it out. But don’t do both all the time. Mix it up.

Lloris isn't the greatest kicker. If it goes wrong the pressure is straight back on us.

I like the counter at pace. Under avb teams like liverpool and city used it to great effect against us and we have used it well, but sometimes the other team has the ball and score. Not an exact science.

Agree his didtribution is poor but he kicks it fine when he's trying to get it up the pitch. Its when he tries putting it wide and it doesnt even reach half way or goes off the pitch he gets us in trouble.
