Even if buildings can be made safe (they almost certainly will be) it's going to be tempting fate to switch cops to football duty. Add to that, these guys are whacked. The two I spoke to had had six hours' kip since Sunday, and I doubt they're an exception.

That's the main thing. They are working flat out so stopping all that to police an extra few hundred thousand people with known tendencies for trouble is hardly an attractive proposition.

I reckon we'll be called off and we'll hear about it today. I reckon Fulham and QPR will be too.

yes i agree with this. i can understand calling of night fixtures when tensions and possible problems may happen.

But 3pm start in daylight finish in daylight all people leave in daylight. what it also says to me is that football fans are tarnished with the image of riots and troubles due to past issues.

Tripe.

excellent... first game of the season away at united, after they have played a couple of competitive games (the charity sheild was competitive this year)

That equals a hammering for us.

I partly agree with our game being called off, although there hasnt been any trouble in London since Tuesday night. It seems a bit excessive, these are kids remember, they have been easily scared by the publicity and extra police precence.

The problems are over, 3pm games should go ahead IMO

Nothing new there then, we really only have 37 games a season, cause that one is always a write-off.

This is good news, maybe we can start our 1st game of the season with a decent striker?

its posponed due to the High road being closed and damaged and also the need for police to be elsewhere protecting people rather than at the football. just my opinion. obviously gutted but thats life
