People moaning that we had second string players today like Emerson, Dier, Davies, PEH and Skipp - they were what Conte had as his first choice when he arrived - and he had Loris in goal - no wonder the guy was ill!
Yet Ange has those same players playing at a higher level and we're still playing better football with all the players out. I know you love Conte but I still find it weird when everyone else is loving Big Ange instead.

Conte had Sarr and Bissouma yet preferred Skipp and Hojbjerg.

He wanted Richarlison yet fucked him around.

He took the best form out of Deki.

He misused Son.

He wanted Perisic yet he didnt even register a goal under him.

Conte did have the crap but he stuck by that crap and still complained about it
He didn't have Sarr and Bissouma in his first 28 prem games, when he took us from 10th to 4th - and he had Romero out injured for the first 3 months. He had Deki and Bentancur from February. And in his second season he had Loris, Emerson, Doherty, Tanganga, Dier, Romero, Sanchez, Lenglet and Davies to make a defence out of. Oh and Perisic scored against Southampton in Contes last game - but don't let the facts get in the way.

Good spell in the first half. Not so good in second half.
It clear as day that we need depth in the squad.
I think apart from CB our depth is not horrific

the problem is an unprecedented injury/unavailable players all at same time
2 great full backs and 2 steady back
Ups
Midfield 3 out of
Bis
Bent
Kilu
Gio
Sarr
Madders
Then skipp/peh as last ditch
Forwards
Son rich BJ kulu solo perisic veliz

you take as many players out of contention for game time out off all teams - including city (they are 1/2 side with out rod and kdb) they will struggle

we could cope and have very little drop off
With 1/2/3 injuries/suspension but this many has killed us and it’s amazing we have kept in and around top 4 like we have

I don't know why we're still discussing Conte.

Alas I had Effin UCuckoo on my stream chatting shit from the off - he hates us.
After about 10 mins (wasn’t counting) he exclaimed it was the first time Spurs got in the Everton half - obviously forgetting Sarr had a shot at goal on about 28 seconds!

Feicin eejit
Couldn't give us credit for anything we did well in the game either, well maybe once towards the end when he gave Davies some credit. But anything we did well was Everton being unlucky. Hes such a twat and his sidekick wasn't much better.

On the disallowed goal the free kick Everton were given, and then played the ball forward which resulted in the incident, was almost exactly the same as the foul of Emerson. Crazy no one pointed this out to Dyche.

Today was a winning feeling I felt watching us at the end under Conte , happy with the points but very little enjoyment in the process . For me this was our worst performance of the season , we looked leggy and clueless from the half hour mark till the final whistle . Johnson looked like an extra from ‘Platoon ‘ the way we defended our right hand side was Sunday league stuff , the room we gave them was quite incredible and it was so easy to open us up , my concern was we didn’t try and stay compact and break on them . We will have better days ahead but whilst we are wheeling out some of the second string we shouldn’t ask of them to play a system that clearly doesn’t suit them . I love Ange's style of football but you can’t polish a turd .

I don’t agree with that. We are horrifically left short by injuries and the AFCON and Asia Cup. We are probably 3 short in terms of overall squad strength. Probably:

Vicario, Forster, Porro, Royal, Romero, VDV, Davies, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Skipp, Maddison, Lo Celso, Kulu, Johnson, Richy, Son, Solomon

Are all of the required quality so that’s 19. 20 if you include Hjobjerg who will probably depart. You have Dorrington, Philips, Veliz, Donley, Santiago, Scarlett, and Devine pushing.

We could probably do with a CB, CM, LB and wide forward imo
I agree with almost all of this (you have to be a pretty massive optimist to think Scarlett is ‘pushing’ for instance).

I think the 19 names are all fine except probably Skipp. As others have said, the likes of Davies and Lo Celso look good when they play with the first team but can’t elevate a second team, but that’s ok for your reserves if the rest of the squad is good enough. Agree with the positions needed as well, although the optimist in me still thinks Sessegnon could be a really good Ange LB if he could ever stay fit. But buy a CB, swap PEH for someone who suits our style better and one more forward instead of Gil (talented but not right do us). Gives us better depth than we currently have, whilst still leaving pathway for the kids to get some games when we are on more competitions….

The other thing they didn’t show was Johnson’s miss. Which was just as good a chance as the majority of the Everton ones they showed.

I said pretty much the same thing to my missus including that I'd never seen that before. She wasn't listening so I'm pleased I've had the opportunity to raise it again.

Yep, didn’t even show Johnson’s chance either, which was probably the clearest non goal chance of the whole game. Also found the VAR conversation bizarre, Dyche said he loved VAR but we shouldn’t overrule the ref’s decisions which is a hopeless contradiction, then after agreeing it’s clearly a foul shearer says he can see Dyche’s point. Add Nuno moaning about VAR not getting involved o second booking and it shows people aren’t interested in giving VAR any chance any more. The Gomes foul was an example of VAR working perfectly - a clear error corrected - and people are still complaining

At this point - it's not alarming. We know the drop-off is there.

Hopefully, we can get through January unscathed, and then we get players returning from injury, and international tournaments - and then our bench will look pretty strong.

The only real need for January is a CB - as we don't have the depth, even when we have a full squad.

But, when Bentancur and Maddison are back (along with Sarr and Bissouma) - CM is sorted for the rest of the season. Hojbjerg and Skipp will be lucky to get off the bench, and 1 might not even make the bench in some matches.

Same with forwards - Solomon, Son, Richi, Kulusevski and Johnson are plenty of depth.

If we can get a player in on January 1 - that makes sense, but adding depth on January 31 makes less sense.
This is all fine, except it assumes we don’t have any more injuries or setbacks. If there is money on the table for PEH we should take it and get a CM in - I don’t want to be risking anything when our two best midfielders are currently out and we know for a fact the next best 2 are missing time as well

End of the day var just gives another thing for people to complain about. One constant in football is that people will complain about something when things go against them. Var or no var.

The analysis is awful, I always fast forward through it or pause it when it’s live so I can then zip through it. There are some teams they love for no real reason and wax lyrical about every little thing they do - Everton, West Ham, Leicester (not anymore lol) spring to mind. I get that we didn’t play well but to not even look at the goals that won the game of football is amateur hour stuff
