Lot's of people questioned Spences mentality before we bought him (incl his former coach) yet, we still went for him as our main rwb target, but surely buying someone just because of their position and HG status shouldn't be reason enough to go through with a purchase?

Is he another case of really poor scouting, or am I stupid? (Or more likely both)

I am sorry this is just not correct. I believe we bought him because of his potential nothing else and he was NOT our main RWB target.

I do hope you weren't spoke about in this way at his age. Everyone is different and mature at differing rates. Lets give him time to work with the best of footballers and coaches and then see how he is doing before we start criticising the scouting and him.

I was simply spittballing, I didnt say it was this? I know people mature at different ages and I am not saying this is the reason as I think trix has since followed up with that he just isn't taking the info on very quickly, not through lack of effort etc so its fine.

For the positives i actually think Royal has decent control of the ball, he can also pass around in very tight areas, last night he put in some great crosses. For people reading this as well a good cross is not just when somebody scores or nearly scores, sometimes a cross will be made in to a dangerous area as that is what is practiced and he has to rely on others getting into the right spots to get something on the ball.

It does feel like Royal is the new Jenas

Just to add to my post about Royal and people saying he can't cross bla bla bla. Literally in these highlights he put in a great cross just before half time and we nearly scored. There were a few more as well in the match, it does feel like people are using him as an easy target.

And that may well be true in the grand scheme of things. Doesn't mean he isn't the best option for us right now considering what we have though. Conte keeps picking him for a reason, and it isn't just to spite the neigh Sayers on here.
