Interesting that Son saying on the official site that this game was the most important game of the season. Did anyone else think that?,
Personally I never though we'd win the CL this year so last Wednesday's match in Sheffield was well more important. Maybe that shows the disconnect between the club and the fans.

18 months and still no CB that the manager asked for and the team needs.
I agree with you statement but that wasn’t the OP. The OP was Conte got zero backing in January. Not enough backing? Sure. A consistent pattern of buying players a manager didn’t ask for over time whilst not filling key needs? Yep. But buying a rwb for big money isn’t zero backing

Up to you now Daniel. A decisive chairman with a plan would act now.
AC has played a blinder here. Levy's over a barrel either way. Pay off AC remaining contract. Which he will begrudgingly. Or, get another victim to appease the fans, temporarily...fans are looking for blood with the imminent departure of Kane. No UCL next season and the highest club ticket prices in world club football. Nice stadium though 🫢

AC was never given the tools to succeed over multiple windows.

Agreed. ‘Nice stadium though.’ My dad said exactly this last night in fact each time he goes to games with me. Like most he’s said it for a while, it needs to be matched on the pitch with an entertaining front foot team. He’s been going on and off to games since the early 1970s and seen us in the second tier. The stadium is fantastic especially for people with disabilities like him with lift access etc and the facilities are up there. This needs to be backed up on the pitch. He is at the age where he doesn’t do angry, he has seen a lot, it’s a shrugging of his shoulders: the thing is I’m the same and only 35 coming up and only witnessed us win two league cups.

The various reactions from different generations might be expressed differently but the main common denominator is we feel short changed by a chairman and ownership which has thrived off the stadium and clearly overlooked the football club. I still have a blind faith that’s for sure that one day we will do it but for now there’s just a feeling of being stuck in the stadium’s aggregate foundation.

That result last night makes a mockery of the end of last season, what was the point if we were going to go out so lamely. Arsenal fans must be thinking what a waste it should have been us and they very much would have gone further than us, what a sad sad thing to say.

Can you imagine what the Juve fans would have done if Conte had said that to them, comparing them to, say, Real or Barca given that Juve have only won the CL twice and not for 27 years. He'd have needed an armed escort out of the stadium. He needs to show some respect. He may think we're beneath him but his performance since he's been manager suggest otehrwise. You can flaunt your trophies but you can't do it without spending bazillions of pounds. Me and you both, mate.

Lets provide a proper scenario and not different leagues.

He wouldn't have made the comparison because Juventus and Inter Milan have been as successful in Italy and Europe as the other Italian clubs.

We've achieved pretty much nothing in both for 40 years.

You also remember him saying that the domestic cups and the Europa League were not important competitions. No winning manager would ever say anything like that in public, regardless of what he thinks in private. A winning coach doesn’t give his players an excuse not to give a 100% in any game because if he does they’ll soon decide there’s other games not worth giving a 100%. We won’t win anything with Poch.

+ If that "can't be arsed" attitude for cup matches is club policy then the club should make it clear that they won't be trying home or away and warn the home and travelling fans about that stance. Taking money under false pretences

Tough reading mate. Settling for less is what's going on. Sucks

If, and it is a big if, you've already sorted the new manager and Conte isn't invested in the club is it really worth waiting until the end of the season? Why when him staying offers no certainty either?

It is when there is 50m-60m CL money at stake with another few million for league placings

Him staying offers no certainty, Poch/someone else coming in also offers no immediate certainty. This all boils down to the odds of us making top four - that really is all we have

I think once it becomes clear where we will end up I can see Levy firing Conte like a week before his contract expires just to get the upper hand. Like I can so see him toying with that idea in like an evil way just for fun.

Porro hasn't been bought yet. He is here on loan until the end of the season when there is an obligation to buy. People on here have said that he was definitely paid for out of the January transfer budget but personally I haven't seen any reports or confirmation of that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Porro comes out of the summer budget but it still gives the impression that Conte was backed in January.

Same story with Romero who was only officially purchased last summer despite being here on loan for a couple of seasons. And remember 50m of the 150m from ENIC seemed to magically disappear last summer? Just more smoke and mirrors as per usual I reckon!

Not only will Porro still need to be acquired, isn't Kulusevski still on loan?

Porro is here and available for selection. That isn’t zero backing. As I said I’m not defending Levy, I want him out. But the idea Conte hasn’t been backed is ridiculous. He should have been backed more (specifically by buying a CB) but we’ve spent or committed to about £300m of spending under Conte, what might we have done if we have Poch that money??

As I posted previously in this very thread, Porro’s arrival obviously does not equate to zero backing. But considering the squad was crying out for a GK, RWB, 2CBs and a playmaker in Jan it still represents the absolutely bare minimum of backing from Levy.
