Didn't that team get done for match fixing, and had their European Cup taken off them?

Not exactly. They were guilty of match fixing but they were only for games that occurred in the French league so their European Cup was unaffected. They did get their league title taken off them though and relegated to the 2nd Division (fun fact: PSG who came 2nd were offered the title and refused it, so no team is a title winner from that season).

In that case he can't start against Marseille imo because otherwise that means we have to rest Kane and Son at the same time for Sporting, I think. We're going to have to get used to the fact that our first teamers are going to have to sit out 10-20% of PL and CL games, and that Lucas and Gil will have to come on as earlier substitutes in matches.

I'd rest Richy for Marseille, Son for City and Kane for Sporting. Kulu Son Kane at the Emirates.
You'd rest Son against Manchester City? Don't you watch Spurs?

I am intrigued to see how Conte approaches this week. He has used the squad sparingly in the first 6 games, only really rotating in Richarlison and Perisic through choice, before introducing Lenglet in the last game. With Man City away on Saturday night, the last of 3 games in 6 days, I think it is imperative that he uses the squad more this week

Marseille:

Lloris
Romero Dier Lenglet
Doherty Bissouma Bentancur* Perisic**
Kulusevski Kane*** Richarlison

* sub on Skipp after 60 mins
** sub on Sessegnon after 60 mins
*** Sub on Son after 70 mins
Man City:

Lloris
Romero Dier Lenglet
Emerson Højbjerg Bentancur Sessegnon
Kulusevski Kane Son

It is essential our WBs and our CMs, as well as Kane and Son, are fresh for Man City.

It'll be interesting to see how a continental team copes with Conte's midless monsters. I don't know what's in vogue in the French league - 3 or 4 at the back?
Marseille also play 3 at the back, same formation as us.

If you are looking to draw with any team at home in the champions League then you don't get deserve to be there.
Wrong, if you make top 4 in hardest league in the world you deserve to be there. And being happy with a draw =/= looking to draw.

See Marseille managed to rest most of their strongest 11 over the weekend and still got a 2-0 win to remain joint top of the French league.

A lot of familiar faces will be coming to the lane on Wednesday:
  • Payet - ex WHam
  • Sanchez - ex Arsenal
  • Guendouzi - ex Arsenal
  • Tavares - Arsenal (on loan)
  • Kolasinac - ex Arsenal
Can’t wait to see Romeros eyes light up when he sees Guendouzi’s hair :woot: :LOL:

we have waited to be in the elite competition in club football, don’t understand why some want us to ‘rotate’. Best available team for me and that’s the one that started Saturday.

Don't see how it's so controversial. Richarlison is hardly a massive downgrade.
If you want one person in world football running onto a ball over the top on the counter to face the keeper down 1 on 1...it's not Richarlison, is it? That's Sonny's bread and butter, and probably just the thing to get him out of this finishing slump.

Conte has said with two games a week there will be rotation so let's see what he comes up with. It's a shame Skippy is probably still not fully match fit as he could probably give PEH a rest.
Would like a front three of Kulusevski ,Kane , Richarlison to start, Kulu will be fresh after just getting the few minutes against Fulham and Richie seems to have surplus energy to burn after keeping the bench warm for a lot of games so far.
Still some GA tickets available but should be nearly full, had a look at premium tickets for this game just out of curiosity, block 2 west stand lower, a whole row of seats available at £599 each. Wow what would the cost be v Real Madrid or similar.

I don’t disagree that rotation is key over the next few weeks and we are really going to need Lucas and Gil to play for more then 5/10 mins at the end of the odd match. Ideally one of them would get a start in the run of games in October. But I also just struggle to see Conte doing it, even as a sub for 20 mins. I fully expect our front 4 main options to play most of the games. I do hope I’m wrong tho.

Their team is better than I expected. We have pretty much turned up to the home games in CL with the exception of when we were playing at WHL and had the CL games at Wembley. Just hope it’s a sellout and the atmosphere is rocking.

It has gone to member guest sale so looks like a lot of people don't fancy it.

I think conte will prioritise the league so we should see some changes.

I also wonder if he has a different formation in mind for CL, although not much flexibility in the squad.

Marseille

Lloris;
Romero, Dier, Lenglet;
Doherty, Bentancur, Biss, Perisic;
Kulu, Kane, Richarlison.

City

Lloris;
Romero, Dier, Davies;
Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sess;
Kulu, Kane, Son.

Like this but feel like Doherty's first minutes of the season will come from the bench.

Have you blanked the Bayern match at NWHL from memory then.
It's pretty close to a sell out for General Admission maybe a couple of thousand seats left, don't know about premium ticket sales, should be well over 50,000 on Wednesday that's enough to make a noise.
