Yes, very disappointed about the Southampton game, but I won't allow any disillusion to creep in just yet. Lets hope the lads, especially the defence can pick themselves up and perform the way we know they can all perform. COYS!

If Arsenal can beat these away from home with a man down then surely that's enough motivation for our lads to get the job done at home! Especially with a point to prove after Wednesday night.

At this moment, dont care, Wed still feels like crap. Need to win this and hope all the recent good stuff wasnt just the honeymoon bit.

Rodon for Sanchez, Doherty for Emerson, Bentancur for Lucas
I like Lucas, but needs must.
I'm depressed thinking about this game. Just hope Skipp and Dier are back for the FA Cup, because I've given up on top 5 now, let alone top 4

I thought it was interesting hearing Conte say that for him Bentancur is better in a 2 then a 3. For that reason alone I think we will start with a 2 in CM again

I think Emerson, Sanchez, Holberg and Winks could all do with a weekend rest ?

Not really bothered who comes in for them really as long as they can defend, press and actually pass a ball ?

Yep, you may be right, so Bentancur and Hojbjerg then?
Might work, might not., am very down about us ATM,. Maybe the players can restore my faith, hope so.

Wolves are third in the recent form table. If we set up in the same way, with the same team (which wouldn’t surprise me) it should be a relatively straightforward win for the visitors. Let’s not kid ourselves, we were horribly shocking on Wednesday, and much of that was down to the setup and the way we surrendered midfield.

Mistake if he does Imo. Can always switch to that later on but we need to get some control in MF after Wednesday's shit show.

We will be dominated again and need to put away our chances and get frustrated with Royal

With Dier and Skipp out for this game, we need a 3 man midfield to take control in the middle of the park and to protect our weakened defence.

Mate we lost a game of football, just 1 game. It happens, that's football. How/why are you so down and depressed about us?

Pre Conte -
Games: 17
Won: 8
Drawn: 2
Lost: 7
Goals for: 22
Goals against: 23
Clean sheets: 5
Points per game: 1.52
Win rate: 47%
Loss rate: 41.1%
Goals per game: 1.29
Goals against per game: 1.35

Since Conte -
Games: 17
Won: 10
Drawn: 3
Lost: 4
Goals for: 29
Goals against: 18
Clean sheets: 5
Points per game: 1.94
Win rate: 58.8%
Loss rate: 23.5%
Goals per game: 1.7
Goals against per game: 1.05

It's an ongoing, but absolutely improving process, a process that Conte himself has told us will require patience. But the difference is night & day between what we had pre Conte and now.

I get the emotional investment & the low feeling after a loss, we all hate it. And I fully understand you've had decades of suffering at the hands of this bloody club.

But depressed thinking about this game?

Feeling very down about us at the moment?

Sorry bud, I'm just not understanding this at all.

Can see a tough game tomorrow Dier not back too

Sorry each of you that I've quoted. It's nothing personal.

What the fuck is wrong with us? What's happened that seems to have taken away the slightest bit of belief in this team/club?

All I ever see on here is supposedly superior people getting stuck into our players for having a piss weak mentality. Yet here we are in a match thread & we've seemingly lost before a ball has even been kicked.

Fucking hell we may as well just call it a day & fold the club altogether.

Big Clubs always respond after a defeat.

I think we will. Its what Conte will expect and demand.

2-0 Spurs. Kane and Son.

It's a must win really... not just because we have an eye on top 4 but also to keep Wolves at bay... they can't be allowed to catch us... we need to bounce back from the Saints-defeat. This time I really don't care how. Just win... It's so important for our morale and atmosphere at the club. I'm not in any doubt that we will be up for it... I never am under Conte... that alone is a massive improvement... this game will be about how clinicial and focused we are. It will be very close and tough... so no mistakes please !

A hefty dose of reality on Wednesday against a stable team having a good coach able to work with them for a few years, we've got a ways to go yet.
As for Wolves although their league form has been good recently they no longer have Traore and have lost their two games since against Arsenal and Norwich so I'm not sure they're in quite as good a place as they were a month ago.
I don't know the injury situation but I would like to see Dier and Skipp back if possible but most of all a real up step in belief in ourselves and efforts on goal, it's too easy to just say more effort, that goes without saying but I don't think that was the problem on Wednesday when we seemed a bit fish slapped from the start.
It's going to be pissing down tomorrow and I'm going to get soaked so I really want the win to make it seem worthwhile.

COYS!

Didn't know he said that, FFS. I swear I read a report that said Bentancur played his best football in the past in a midfield 3, may be wrong though, and not that it matters if Conte thinks otherwise.

I fully expect to see a 3-4-3 to be honest. Every time I've thought we may see something different the team has been the same. We could get away with it on Sunday but I think we'll massively regret the same approach for the run of away games.

I think Conte wasn't sure yesterday who or how the team would be.
For me, like you it has to be 3 CMs
The only pair that's worked so far is Skipp and Hojbjerg, as they give sufficient defensive strength to allow the luxury of three attackers, plus, theoretically, attacking WBs
Obviously Conte is a top manager, so whatever he says is best, is best
For the moment anyway ?
Our last two league performances have been shambolic. Another shambles on Sunday, then tbh there will be people questioning him, and that might include me, we'll see???
