I wonder if Ange hs any defensive work with them at all. How on earth can we have such a high line and no press on the ball carrier? It is junior knowledge. If the players are not up for it change them out, it is not allowed to be this slow and lathargic with such a rested squad.

When the passing and attacking does not work atleast rund to yuou get a cramp or get subbed. Said it all along if you want to play this kind of football, you need to be on crack like pool or city, if you lose the ball, everyone needs to be like wasps to get the ball back, because we are ultra voulnerable like this.

I can't remember when we truly played well generally.

Almost every game our system gifted spaces on the wing and chances that are easier to put away.

Hope Ange evolves the system fast . We can't play kamikaze football every week.
This is one of the most worrying things - I can’t listen that many games where we have put in a good or dominant performance for more than the odd 10 minute stint for quite some time.

3rd December maybe the last time.

The thing is, this isn't 2005. Almost every team in the PL are technically proficient from 1-11, and are top-level athletes. Rarely does a team have a proper off-day, especially when they fancy their chances of getting a result, and are properly motivated as a result.

I think we did stage 1 of the rebuild very well. We loosened the shackles and the team responded with positive football. Now stage two has to kick in and we must balance that carefree attacking play with solidity - otherwise we are going to get turned over by well drilled (and genuinely good) teams like Wolves.
Tell west ham that last week

Two weeks. Go right back to basics like the start of the season. Hopefully Porro and Udogie are back by then.

Generally agree but how on earth can most of our players have tired legs. Not in Europe and out of both cups.
I remember the season we missed out on 4th under Jol. We only played 40 games that season and there were suggestions that players weren't playing enough games to keep match fit. Could be a problem this year too.

Genuinely thought we'd go on and win that at 1-1. And then the counter happened and we looked clueless again (though Wolves defended well).

Maybe this 2 week reset has come at the right time. I'll reserve judgement until our next game when we should have everyone back
The personnel aren’t the problem. We’ve had our first choice defence available for the last 5 games before today and conceded 8 goals. It’s not good enough and isn’t down to the players because most would agree a back 4 of Udogie, VDV, Romero and Porro is up there with the best in the league. It’s very evidently a tactical issue.

What do people mean when they ask for a plan B? We had this against Brentford; we weren't playing well, he made some changes, we won the game. His subs won the game against Brighton too.

We lost a game against a good side who've shown us twice this season that they're no mugs. It happens.

I don’t really understand it either. Especially since he’s not even had a full season to implement his plan A, which was already a radical departure from the football we had been trying to play during the last four years.

Personally I’d rather take some pain now in the interest of implementing a proper footballing philosophy long term, as opposed to chopping and changing and having no identity.

Not really learnt anything we didn't already know. We can't break down low blocks because we have no out and out wingers. We're very easy to play against in that respect but I'm also not sure how you fix the problem until you recruit the kind of personnel we're missing. We may just have to suck it up until next season; it's a project and these are part of the growing pains.

They shouldnt but if Porro and Udogie are both out what can we do? Still a lot of work to do with the squad building.
We could simply play a CM there instead, especially if it’s against a side that we know is going to sit deep.

How often were Royal and Davies taking up No. 10 positions today? We’d have been better off with a natural CM in that role than a traditional fullback shoehorned into it.

Very true mate, I knew this was going to be a transitional season but I expected much more flowing football. Not completely sure what we are trying to do at the moment. 🙁
We started off the season so well. What on earth has gone wrong. Have we simply been found out tactics wise? We have the players ostensibly.

Our press needs to be much better and more cohesive. We play such a high line but fail to turn the ball over enough.
