After watching MOTD highlights of caulker tonight, it would be a silly mistake to bring him back in jan. He has all the raw attributes and impressed me with his pace. However positionally he has a lot to learn and hell need at least half a season maybe another one playing pl football with an experienced cb alongside him, before we can have him in our team.

Disagree, his positioning was not what caught swansea out, it was williams constantly out of position, if you look again you will notice that RVP constantly got chances on his right foot in the LCB area

williams went forward and didn't run back or he would play the offside trap despite his other 3 defenders being in a line behind him, most of those chance meant that caulker had to cover him when this happened

agreed, he was left high and dry on a number of occasions with Williams off gallivanting when they lose possession or Williams trying to push up with no clue as to what's going on behind him.

I thought he played well but not magnificently, he was technically the one to leave Walcot onside when Williams moved up! I reckon Caulker will be a great replacement for Dawson eventually

Right I have something interesting on Williams he's a fucking liability! Even in training he'd a liability.

He is loved by the fans but at times he still thinks he's a defensive midfielder! He goes an chases the ball like an under 12s player then turns and shouts at everybody else like its their fault when he loses it or evidently gets caught out of position!

Never ever do you hear him shout step up or up with me he just flys forward and hopes the other centre back and two fullbacks follow! He's a mentalist Caulker was furious with him yesterday for not giving him a shout Williams is reply was.....well you should be watching! Yes ashley your captain and also the one that should be calling the line! Lucky for Swansea caulker and monk are fantastic at reading this dipshits moments of madness and cover him quickly!

He thinks he's rio Ferdinand for some reason he's a proper billy big bollacks apparently!

For Walcott's goal I just think Caulker got caught out, he didn't anticipate too well but then again there wasn't enough pressure on Djourou to really play the offside. But as the deeper/further away centre back he perhaps should have read the game a little better. Kind of depends on whether they are instructed to play the offside in situations like that or not.

He cleared one off the line, and had to cover Williams a couple of times when he went all headless chicken on him. He looks more than composed on the ball, which is good, probably just needs a bit more PL football to really become top class.

Although it was Caulker that was way deeper then the rest of the defence for Walcott's goal, Williams does go flying forward and if he doesn't shout what's Steven supposed to do?

I thought he had got caught out as well, but players will make mistakes especially young players. By all accounts he has been awesome in all his loan spells and a few mistakes will probably make him better and come back to us a stronger player.

Well he's played 14 Premiership games with Swansea and 13 games to go, so he's half way through his Premiership experience for this season. Will the experience of 27 Premiership games be deemed enough for him to join the Spurs squad and finalise his education or is another season on loan in the Premiership required ?

Next season might well see 60 games in the Premiership, Europe and domestic cups, so will that be enough games to share round 4 or 5 CB's (assuming some injuries to the likes of King and Gallas) ?

i think caulker has loked very good for swansea whilst williams who partners him as noted before is a mentalist, he has moved out of position so many times that caulker has to keep covering for him.

For me he is an almost certainty to be in our squad. Man Utd spent £20m on Jones and £8m on Smalling and are playing them. Caulker hasn't looked any worse than those too. If he were at another Premiership club I am sure we would be interested in signing him. We were looking at Cahill and Samba, but Caulker is going to slot right in there instead alongside Kaboul, Dawson and King (if he completes enough games to win his contract).

Looking forward to bringing in Caulker next season.

I'd opt to recall Naughton too.

I think he'd be great competition on the full back positions.

His game has come on a lot, we should utilize his pace and his defensive skills have improved vastly.

Have to agree with you opensaysme. Naughton and Caulker in my opinion would take the places of corluka and one of Gallas / Nelson or maybe even King depending on injuries.

Caulker will still count as an under 21 player next season so we could have 5 CB's if we so wanted - so if we do not buy we could have Dawson, Kaboul, Caulker plus the injury prone King and Gallas, or possibly replacing one of the last two with a new CB.

Agree. Many seem to be talking about selling Naughton on in the summer but I really hope that we hold onto him at least for next season (after which time Smith might have proven himself a viable bet via a PL loan spell of his own).

Naughton looks a very decent player to me. Good both defensively and in attack. More a like for like replacement for Walker than Corluka is as well. More importantly he appears to be almost as solid at left back as he is on the right. In fact I think he has more potential in the position than Danny Rose (who I suspect may want to seek out first team football next season anyway). Naughton's versatility would serve us very well indeed. Then again he might not be all that keen to come back.

As for Caulker, will be very excited to see him return.

Assisted Sigurdsson for the Swansea goal. Has looked solid so far and composed with the ball, even venturing forwards at times with it (which is how he got the assist)
