Strikers in January window

The signing of VDV, the injury to Defoe, and the fact that none of our fit strikers can form a partnership together mean that we need to sign a mobile and strong Striker, somebody who leads the line and makes the centre backs know they have been in a real game, somebody that holds the ball up well and creates openings for our rampaging midfielders.

Of course in an ideal world business will pick up again once Defoe is fully fit, and no knee jerk purchase will need to be made. It would also help if our Midfielders would start putting the ball in the net, alleviating some of the pressure on the Strikers.

Heskey's been pretty prolific in the last 4 games, cheeky bid in January?

Second choice Luis Suarez.

We really should have signed Gudjohnson.

The thing is though, the injury to Defoe has shown we need to sign a striker, even if he does come back and start to score all round him, simply for the fact that we need a back-up if he were to get injured again.

Elamnder looked tasty today against Man U!

I dont think he is the answer but seen as we are capping our wages at 70k who else is there??

He's looked pretty decent this season, after looking pants when he joined Bolton... Remains to be seen if he's just hit a spot of form or has finally got used to the EPL, but whilst he's not particularly quick he's got the strength and ability to play up front on his own... I have a suspicion he'd end up going as anonymous as Pavlyuchenko if we signed him, though...

Maybe the Coyle effect? I've only seen MOTD snippets, but he does seem to have got Bolton playing something that looks suspiciously like decent football.

I know he's a moody ****, but we could really do with signing Frederico Chaves Guedes, we missed the boat last time we were looking at him, (if the rumours were true), he's a more skillful Mido who is adept at holding the ball up and who won't be pushed around by defenders the way that Crouch is.

Not especially prolific, but would bridge the gap between defence and midfield well with good hold-up play and intelligent passing, could also play up front by himself or with either Keane or Super Pavlyuchenko and still only 26yrs of age.

I'm sure that Sandro and Gomes could have a word in his shell-like.

América-MG 26 (9)
Cruzeiro 71 (56)
Lyon 88 (34)
Fluminense 60 (39)

well Between now and Jan our season will be either well and truly over or we will be in the thick of it!!!

Fact is like we all kept saying we should have addressed this situation in June/July.....

Man City look solid so 4th place looks well out of our reach unless arsenal fall apart!

As much as i want to be positive i cant, we have blown this biggest opportunity we have had in the last 20+ years but hey we have money in the bank so lets all be happy!!! :bang::bang::bang::bang:

The most realistic would be Adebayor. Levy should just break the bank to pay his wages, and then explain to the other players on his reasons for doing so.
