how about cristian rodriguez and ashley young? not strikers, but keep enough 1st squad wingers available to deal with injuries so the strikers on the books get constant service.

Selling Defoe, Crouch, Pav, Keane, Bentley, Dos Santos and O'Hara could get us around £50m and cover most of the costs.

People write lists of who would could sell to cover costs every transfuer window. But in reality we can't just sell players that easily. I think we have tried to sell Robbie Keane, Jenas, O'Hara, Hutton at various points over the last couple of transfer windows and it hasn't happened. I do think the huge size of our squad is a problem when trying to get rid of players as I think it is plainly obivouls to other teams who we are trying to sell so they won't offer the money we demand.

I have to laugh at people wanting Doyle of Wolves we've moved up from that level. We need a top class striker that can score goals against teams such as Man Utd away Liverpool Chelsea Arsenal AC Milan etc.

Not a bad night for striker watching, Hulk at Porto, Rossi at Villereal, Toinoven at PSV.

Carroll looking good for Liverpool this evening.

Actually 'effective' is probably a better word than 'good'.

Still glad we didn't get him, though.

True but we can certainly get rid of a few without any problems.

HR has openly spoken about his desire to keep Keane so I highly doubt we've tried to sell him before January. Now he isn't playing regularly for us I think he'll move once the right club comes in for him.

O'Hara and Bentley seem to be wanted and they both want first team football so they won't be much of a problem. Dos Santos is another that someone will take a chance on.

The only ones we have problems with selling is Defoe and Crouch. They've both left in the past looking for regular football so a clearout is possible.

If West Ham stay up they automatically buy Keane for £5m (though hopefully this won't happen)
there is an agreed fee with Birmingham for Bentley of an extra £6m
there is an agreed fee with Wolves for O'Hara of an extra £4m
there is an agreed fee with Racing for Giovani of an extra £4.2m
there may well be an agreed fee with Leicester for Naughton of about £2m

That could easily be £21m without needing to search around for buyers or have protracted negotations

The Bentley one is actually £9m, Keane is between £5m-£6m but the rest are unconfirmed as far as I know

Gio is definitely confirmed - 1.5mEuros for the loan, 5mEuros extra to make it permanent

agreed fee for O'Hara is confirmed and pretty sure it's £4m to add to a £1m loan fee to make £5m total payment
