Was at the stadium when we played Leipzig in the first leg in our last CL-run, and I remember thinking that Laimer was so impressive. How he moved, their attacks running through him. Big yes for me! Only one year left on his deal as well.

For those of you who have seen more of Laimer than I have, would he be able to do a job at wing back or is he predominantly a central midfielder?

Predominantly a CM but can play anywhere.

Think James Milner like. Would be a fantastic addition. He is known as the pressing machine in Germany. However if Rangnick is having a say on transfers next season then you'd think they will be in control.

He played a few times as a right midfielder for our national team. He can do a job there, because he has the stamina for it but I think his best position is in the center. But he's a very intelligent footballer and I am sure Antonio could turn him into a great RWB if needed.

Good player. Would slot in well with his work rate and ability to push forward at times. Winks out, Laimer in would be great business.

Wrote this about Laimer previously when he was in the Nagelsmann side (in a thread talking about DM solutions for Jose… shudder):

Looks ideal. I think his contract situation is about the same as Bissouma but without the legal baggage. No idea what sort of money they'd want for him though.

Yeah but you don't buy a CM to then have to coach them to play somewhere else. Just buy a good RWB and coach them to be better than they already are.

What's he like technically and in possession? Of course the game isn't all about being in possession but we are striving to be a team that dominates the ball so needs to be good in that area.

If we are potentially talking about RWB, what's his delivery like?

The question was if he would be able to do a job there. And yes, he would be. I did mention that his best position is CM. Just saying that if needed, he could play on the right side. Not the worst thing to have a few players who are able to play more than one position.

I've seen him play in a back 3 previously too or slightly in front of the defence. Think he's a really good option.

We have a really interesting summer coming up I think.

Can see us prioritising a Second GK, LCB, RWB, CM, Forward/Winger. Depending on the development of Reguilon and Sessegnon we could see a LWB being targeted too. Can also make the case for another more attacking midfielder being needed.

So we could potentially replace 3 lame players, in Winks, Lo Celso & Ndombele, with 1 Laimer signing. :cautious:

Talk that Allan Saint-Maximin may be available come the summer.

Not sure what I think. What would others think about him being a squad rotational player.

Love watching him play (not anymore because fuck Newcastle) he can play on wings or as a striker, would be a good replacement for Bergwijn if he leaves. Has 2 goals and 3 assists in 10 games in striker position this season, not terrible. If we want a Diaz type player he is similar.

If he moves to a top club I'm of the opinion that he'll mostly be a benchwarmer. Not because he's individually any worse than other players at top clubs, but because he's too much of an individualist.
When he gets rolling he's very hard to stop but he's also quite predictable (Has he left Romero's pocket yet?) and too often opts for his own glory.

He's a fun player to watch in terms of having the skills to run at and past defenders, with that slice of unpredictability. But I think he's not too dissimilar to what we have already in Moura. They actually post relatively similar stats - in all comps ASM has 29 appearances with 5 goals and 3 assists, and Moura has 38 appearances with 6 goals and 7 assists. Remember that many of Moura's appearances are off the bench, so frankly I'd rather keep Moura over ASM, as he's proper COYS and happy to play his part off the bench.
