folks, had a thought about the squad for next summer - if we think about it we probably need 6 starters covering the centre forward role and the attackers on the left and the right - the locked in front group sees Kane, Chadli, Andros, Lamela and Eriksen filling 5 slots. For the final slot (effectively backing up Kane) what about Michu?

Look in-house? Pritchard? Hmm, noticed you added Kane (Striker), so it should be 8 players and 4 starters out of the 8? The system now is mostly 4-2-3-1, not 4-4-2.

Manchester United are hoping to hijack Arsenal's plans to sign Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, according to theIndependent.

this would be the saga this summer

How many games did he get at Middlesbrough this season?
The el would give him and others the chance to impress if he does well he could soon find himself playing week in week out ala Kane

He rarely got any games at either Boro or Charlton, you have to question if he can't get regular games at either why he is likely to find himself playing week after week in the PL

we should also add some context to this before we get a repeat of the ryan fredericks never playing myth. he joined boro when they were flying high, they had their team settled so had no reason to start throwing in a 19 year old ahead of more experienced players. it was a bad loan from the off. then he went to charlton where he started the first two games he was there, then on the 3rd he broke his arm so the loan was ended. he's been very unlucky, if he'd gone to charlton at the beginning of the season instead then he'd probably have 40 odd games under his belt by now. harry kane wasn't getting regular games for norwich and leicester either but he came back and has done quite well since.

Feyenoord haven't got any european football next season so there will never be a better chance to sign Jordy Clasie or Jean-Paul Boetius.

What team doesn't look for striker re-inforcements in today's football?

Look at some of the teams around us. Arsenal will likely be looking at strikers, Man U will be looking at strikers, as will Liverpool and Southampton.
They have Sturridge, Balotelli(who said he isn't leaving), Lambert and Origi

Im not so sure they will look for one and perhaps rather for a sterling replacement

Also the manager came out and said he was the best player on the pitch in the matches he did play in and wanted him to stay but Milos choose to come back

Whatever way you play it he managed four games for Boro and 3 of those as a sub. If he can't get regular playing time in the Championship then he's not going to be ready for the PL even less so given he only played a total of 7 games all season and all of those he was either on as a sub or subbed off
If this season was meant to give him some regular playing experience and time to develop then it has failed to do that and he's going to need another season to do the developing he hasn't managed this season
At the end of the day whether a team hasn't played him or because he's missed games from injury it still means he has lacked regular football and that will have not given him the development and experience needed

that's still 7 more games than what bentaleb had before he broke into the first team. hector bellerin at the same age had just 8 championship games before he got a chance at arsenal, now he's their 1st choice rb.

With Veljkovic, I said at the time that it was my opinion that Poch saw him as a defender (its where he played him all pre-season) and so that was the position that Middlesbrough signed him for. They had an established partnership that was going well and he couldn't get a look in. It's only towards the end when they did actually play him in midfield that he got a look in, and impressed.

Yeah but if the club thought he needed to go out on loan to a lower division to get games and experienced I can't see what's changed playing in bits of 7 games hasn't really changed that. Some players a club will feel can step up from the academy. others need time out on loan, others are let go or sold.
I really don't see just because something might work for one player it means it's going to work for another, Harry Kane went out on loan to a number of clubs.

I agree some players need time to out on loan but Milos isn't one of them

He was Middlesbrough's best player once he broke in to the team(managers words not the fans), once he did break in to it, the loan had finished. Karanke came out and said he wants to extend the loan but we decided to keep him, then after the window we decided to loan him out again as he had a couple of players in front of him, which once again he played very well for Charlton and their form did turn around at that time before dislocating his shoulder

Harry Kane only went out on loan because the manager didn't believe in him, the leicester loan was pointless

Another one for you Barry!! Will Hughes. Been told also (although I can't see it anywhere) that a Derby ITK has said Hughes will join us this summer. Won't make a big deal of this because it's probably crap....

Can't see that happening with the abundance of of midfield talent we have coming through.
