My guess is that he'll renew at Everton. Could be wrong but IMO he's not yet good enough to play regularly at the top 6 sides and Everton will probably push the boat out to keep 'one of their own'. Everton are now being backed by very wealthy and ambitious owners, so it's a good place to be for a 23 year old. The only question mark is whether Koeman actually rates him. If does, he's got a strange of showing it in terms of his comments to the media.

If he does go, Everton will be relying on clubs like City failing to meet their home grown quota and needing him like they did with Delph. Otherwise, I am sure most interested clubs will wait until the deadline and see Everton's price tumble.

He may not be what one would ordinarily consider 'good enough' to play for a top 6 team, but as you say, he is home grown, and an engerland international. That is to say, he's one of the best home grown players in the country. I'd say any top 6 team would have him in their respective squad because most English players (with the exception of ours, obvs) are shite.

His stats for last season are much more impressive: 12 goals and 11 assists in all comps.

Barkley seems the type of player who would become more consistent and effective by working with Poch. He looked fantastic when he first broke into the Everton team.

I'm all about it, I'm personally a huge fan of versatile players and if it doesn't work out at least we could use Barley to make some damn good beer.

There's no denying, he has talent. I am merely looking at it from his perspective and whether a move to top 6 side would benefit him.

THFC - We have Eriksen/Alli and would probably pay him less than he's being offered at EFC. We have a great coach though & CL
Chelsea - Hazard/Pedro/Willian
City - Sterling/Sane/De Bruyne/Silva - surely he'd only be signed as a quota filler here.
Arsenal - Maybe? Possibly losing Sanchez, Ozil and Ox. Ramsey/Cazorla and Wilshere all preferred in deeper roles. They could be short of attacking mids
UTD - Mata/Mikhataryn - and even they have their creativity stifled out of them by Mourinho

Wouldn't surprise me if Arsenal made a bid. Their English core have failed to progress. Possibly swap with Wilshere as makeweight?

Had a dream last night that next season Sessegnon and Edwards broke through like Alli two years ago, and our attack became even more scintillating. And then I went back to dreaming about boobies, lots of nice boobies...

cabinessence on ftl in the NTY/sessegnon thread:
seen the contract

Two ITK's claiming we've agreed a deal then, clearly promising!

What a great start Sessegnon would be - with the added benefit of pissing off Pool fans (again)

Forgive me here, but I missed the context on this contract situation, was it a signed contract for Sessegnon, or just an offer?

I dont know if he would. You cant drill a new brain into someone and that is exactky where Barkley's issues are. All the talent in the world but he has a very low to non existant footballing IQ. One of the most frustrating players to watch as he's constantly making the wrong decisions or holding the ball for way too long. He hasnt improved in 3 years.

I don't agree with this at all. He's got good vision, plays lots of nice through balls for Lukaku etc. His weakness is decision making - when to play the percentages, when to try the killer ball. That's the sort of thing that Poch, and his clear footballing vision can help.

I think the whole low football IQ refrain has been completely overstated, as had been the notions that Dele had to be eased into the first team slowly and Bale plays on the left.
