I think its pretty clear exactly where we need to improve next Summer and would be surprised if Potch isn't thinking the same.
1: Attacking midfield : With Lamela out injured, homesick whatever and Sissoko not living up to expectations as well as N'Koudu being a fair way off the quality we need right now, our n.o1 priority should be to add a top top player to the front 3 behind Kane. We are missing a Mane/Hazard/Sane/Sanchez type player if not a pacey goal scoring option then a creative goal scoring option like Isco would be ideal, or both and move 1-2 on, probably Lamela and either N'Koudu or rather Sissoko.

Suggestions:
a) Isco (Class player who would take us up another level)
b) Zaha (Pace and quality which we miss, still relatively young)

2. Back-up striker : If after this first Season Poch thinks Janssen isn't going to cut it then we need to sign a replacement ASAP

Suggestions:
a) Rodriquez (Southampton) - (Knows Poch and how we play),if his fitness is ok then perfect back-up choice really, scores goals, links play...
b)Callum Wilson (Not really sure who else to suggest here but think the boy Wilson could be a decent shout and will have been well coached playing under Howe)

3. Back-up left back: Just my opinion but I think our full-backs are so key to our play and Davies whilst a good defender because of his lack of pace just is such a weaker option for the way we play than Rose.

Suggestions:
a) Some young pacey left back , not sure who, is RYAN SESSEGNON a LB?

Other area to consider could be CM but i feel that is pretty well covered by Wanyama, Dembele, Winks and Dier + Alli and even Eriksen can step in if needed so probably no real need to upgrade here.

GK : fine, Rb's : fine, CB's : fine, Everything else has been covered.

So really we just need a bit of fine tuning but the first 2 are key because just like against Sunderland we showed that we don't have any game changers off the bench which can be the difference between 1pt and 3pts.

COYS.

Anyone agree/disagree here?

Ideal realistic squad would be:

GK: Lloris,Vorm, Lopez

RB: Walker,Trippier
CB: Toby, Dier, CCV
CB: Jan, Wimmer
LB: Rose, New LB2 Sessengon?

CDM: Wanyama, Dier
CM: Dembele, Winks

RAM: Eriksen, Zaha, N'Koudu
CAM: Isco, Eriksen/Alli
LAM: Alli, Son

ST: Kane, Rodriguez

Can't really see any weaknesses there or ways to improve other than a truly world class player upgrade.

Oh and Sell or at least loan out Onomah, doesn't cut it for me had plenty of chances.
I think its been made pretty clear that Lamela doesnt want to leave. He's been injured and he had a very serious family emergency that probably had an effect on his recovery. Let the kid be. He's our player and he's on his way back.

At the very least we should add strength in depth. Our squad players have hardly impressed this season. That said, if we keep spending fortunes on the likes of Sissoko and Janssen, it won't be of much help.
Adding strength in depth was exactly the purpose of the summer window last year. There is a limit as to the quality of player you can bring in when they are only there to ensure we have good depth. They are more likely to be younger, and therefore, there's a chance they may struggle in the first season.

If we bought another striker, they'd almost certainly be another young, promising player who's done well in another league. So spending money 'on the likes of Janssen' is going to repeat itself. Whenever you buy a player, there's no guarantee they will perform straight away. I don't think many people on here understand that.

I will be totally shocked if at least 4 first team ready players are not added in the summer.

When was the last time we bought 4 "first team" players? Bale summer?

You're getting first team confused with starting 11.

We bough 4 first team players last summer. Jansen, Wanyama, Sissoko and Nkoudou. The fact that 3 of them haven't exactly hit the ground running is another matter...

I think he will leave mate. Believe what you want in the press. Good player, we miss him at the moment but think he will leave.

Getting rid of Lamela and replacing him with Zaha whilst keeping N'Koudou?

Nah you're alright.

The last thing we need to do is sell one of our very few creative players with an actual brain for yet another kick-and-run blind alley merchant.

People forget that Lamela was very good last season and when he was off form this season so was everyone else.

Sissoko's the one who's out of his depth although I think he's better suited to a box to box position.

Realistically we need 1 marquee/game changer in an attacking midfield/forward position and although probably just paper talk I'd save £20-30m by bringing Bentaleb back. With our lack of numbers in central midfield and his versatility he'd get more game time than prior to his loan and more importantly he has the ability to kick on with us. Obviously his attitude needs sorting out.

I'd then look to bring in an experienced centre back and if we can get him, Sessegnon.

I'd like us to bring in -
Ryan Sessegnon but i'd also keep Davies, as BD can be another CB if we stay with 3CBs and can also another LB, just in case RS isn't ready defensively.
Feipe Anderson. He is direct (loves to dribble at defences), great at dribbling at speed and unpredictable. He also puts in a shift, as none of our AMs have won as many tackles as him (he ave 2.95 per 90, Lamela has our most with 1.66) nor have made as many interceptions (he ave 1.77 per 90, Eriksen has our most with 0.84).

Sell -
Sissoko. I know he hasn't had much of a chance, but I just don't think he has the skill set we need. He will also be 28 at the start of next season, so isn't going to improve much.

A striker I would love to have at the club would be Tammy Abraham. 6ft 3, pacey, 19 goals in 35 games this year at Bristol. 2 in 2 for the England U21's...

Unfortunately he is one of Chelsea's 50,000 loan players...and they would never sell him to us...

Although Chelsea seem content on playing 1 striker and with Costa, Batshuayi, Traore, they have that Dominic Solanke kid as well...gonna be tough to compete for 1 place...

Worth looking at, as Batshuayi, Traore and Abraham would improve our side

Current team:

who will likely improve with another year of experience and training with the team:

Defenders:
Walker
Dier
CCV
Wimmer
Rose
Trippier
KWP
Davies

Midfielders:
Wanyama
Winks
Dele
Nkoudou
Lamela
Edwards
Onomah
Eriksen
Son

Forwards:
Janssen
Kane

Players who will still likely be in their prime:

Lloris
Toby
Verts
Dembele
Sissoko

Players potentially on the start of a decline?:
Vorm

So (only my opinion) we have 18 players still improving. 5 players still in their prime and 1 maybe on the start of decline (although I think that's even harsh)

Therefore even if we didn't sign or sell anyone, we should naturally improve.

Not saying I don't think we should sign anyone because I do think we should. But we don't need loads.

We only need players who fall into one of the following categories:

Potential - in the next few years we would expect them to be pushing for a first team place

Automatic starter now - like Toby was. Isco.

We do not need anymore squad players.

No, it is not worth looking at. At all. You said it yourself, Chelsea will never sell to us.

At least 2(possibly as many as 4 or 5) of those still improving players will be off. And probably 1 of those players in their prime.

Fair enough. When you said '1 of those players in their prime', I thought you meant a first-teamer.
No. The poster I quotes put Sissoko on the "in his prime" list.

The only other player I could see leaving is Dembele if China comes in with big money but I sincerely hope that does not happen
