Martial an unused sub again.

Highly unlikely but test the waters. The boy is a genuine star talent and would fit in perfectly giving us skill, speed and directness. From what United fans say - his main issue is he doesn't make runs off the ball. He wants to feet all the time - that's something that over time can be coached into him - but we all know Mourinho's not one to be patient with young players.

We should loan N'Koudou back to France and buy another French African winger/wide forward but never play them.

I got a sneaking feeling that these 3 will be signed up in the summer, and pretty early (ish). This is my opinion and nothing else. Rodriguez, Zaha, Barkley.

That looks like it would represent about £60-70m of utterly mediocre squad filling.

Doubt there will be too much happening either in or out.

Worrying really though. If we don't keep moving forward we run the risk of getting overtaken or going stale. I'm not saying we should be overhauling our squad but we shouldn't be ruling out finding someone to strengthen our starting XI.

Would be one or two each way I'd imagine. Not exactly a wholesale operation - imagine it'll depend on Edwards, Walker-Peters, Onomah etc.

Very young team that will improve with experience and coaching. One or two in to freshen things up is enough IMO.

What an utterly depressing and underwhelming transfer window that would be.

It's going to be hard to get a player who will improve our staring eleven I reckon,if we can push for players like Isco then that would work otherwise we must need to work on improving our backup players because we can improve on that.

yeah I agree - I could see this likes of Davies moving on and us getting a young talent to replace him. If we can get Isco then we will be all over it or if the right player becomes available we will go for it but I don't think that much needs to happen.

Whether they play him or not, United would never sell him to us.

Sounds like the summer '16 transfer window.

Still, I'd take Barkley over Sissoko any day of the week. Younger, therefore more scope for improvement, and much more of a goal threat. Still, we could do better than Barkley, and probably cheaper as well.

Interestingly Barkley has created the 12th most amount of chances in Europe's Top 4 leagues (PL, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A) this season so far. Only Sanchez (2.85/90), De Bruyne (3.52/90), Payet (4.34/90) and our own Christian Eriksen (2.97/90) are above him in the Premier League. Also 65% of his passes are forward passes.

Chances created: 43
Assists: 2
Chances created per 90: 2.79
Chances converted: 4.65%

At the very least we should add strength in depth. Our squad players have hardly impressed this season. That said, if we keep spending fortunes on the likes of Sissoko and Janssen, it won't be of much help.

tend to agree - would be content with ryan sessegnon. If we stay 3-5-2 as our preferred system:
GK: Hugo, Vorm
RCD: Dier, CCV
CCD: Toby, Wimmer
LCD: Verts, Ben Davies
RWB: KW, KT
LWB: DR, RYAN SESSEGNON
CM1: Dembele, Winks
CM2: Wanyama, Sissoko
CM3(attacking): Eriksen, Lamela
ST2: Dele, Son
ST1: Kane, Janssen

Leaves: Josh O, Pau, M Edwards, GKN, KWP etc. as pushing to get into the 2nd 11

I think its pretty clear exactly where we need to improve next Summer and would be surprised if Potch isn't thinking the same.
1: Attacking midfield : With Lamela out injured, homesick whatever and Sissoko not living up to expectations as well as N'Koudu being a fair way off the quality we need right now, our n.o1 priority should be to add a top top player to the front 3 behind Kane. We are missing a Mane/Hazard/Sane/Sanchez type player if not a pacey goal scoring option then a creative goal scoring option like Isco would be ideal, or both and move 1-2 on, probably Lamela and either N'Koudu or rather Sissoko.

Suggestions:
a) Isco (Class player who would take us up another level)
b) Zaha (Pace and quality which we miss, still relatively young)

2. Back-up striker : If after this first Season Poch thinks Janssen isn't going to cut it then we need to sign a replacement ASAP

Suggestions:
a) Rodriquez (Southampton) - (Knows Poch and how we play),if his fitness is ok then perfect back-up choice really, scores goals, links play...
b)Callum Wilson (Not really sure who else to suggest here but think the boy Wilson could be a decent shout and will have been well coached playing under Howe)

3. Back-up left back: Just my opinion but I think our full-backs are so key to our play and Davies whilst a good defender because of his lack of pace just is such a weaker option for the way we play than Rose.

Suggestions:
a) Some young pacey left back , not sure who, is RYAN SESSEGNON a LB?

Other area to consider could be CM but i feel that is pretty well covered by Wanyama, Dembele, Winks and Dier + Alli and even Eriksen can step in if needed so probably no real need to upgrade here.

GK : fine, Rb's : fine, CB's : fine, Everything else has been covered.

So really we just need a bit of fine tuning but the first 2 are key because just like against Sunderland we showed that we don't have any game changers off the bench which can be the difference between 1pt and 3pts.

COYS.

Anyone agree/disagree here?

Ideal realistic squad would be:

GK: Lloris,Vorm, Lopez

RB: Walker,Trippier
CB: Toby, Dier, CCV
CB: Jan, Wimmer
LB: Rose, New LB2 Sessengon?

CDM: Wanyama, Dier
CM: Dembele, Winks

RAM: Eriksen, Zaha, N'Koudu
CAM: Isco, Eriksen/Alli
LAM: Alli, Son

ST: Kane, Rodriguez

Can't really see any weaknesses there or ways to improve other than a truly world class player upgrade.

Oh and Sell or at least loan out Onomah, doesn't cut it for me had plenty of chances.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with that statement I do hope we do ALL we can within our remits to bring in 1 or 2 players that can improve the first 11. A couple of players that can compete with the likes of our best players. Kane and Eriksen et al.

I am big fans of both of those two and I understand how difficult it is to improve on them.

However I am not one of those who think that Kane or Eriksen need 'back-ups' to fill their spots. That gets you no-where.

We need players to COMPETE.

Borussia Dortmund are a great example of knowing how to develop a squad like that. Having said that we have shown that we aren't far behind.

Callum Wilson has just been ruled out for the season with a ruptured cruciate ligament. Missed most of last season with it too but in the other knee. He's crocked.
