Look, if Bale is going to miss a game then Reading at home is as good as any.

With a nice cameo from Dempsey and Siggy's decent form off the bench, we have options and should have more than enough to get the better from Reading.

Surprised Sky are bigging up Bale's performance so much. In all truth I thought he was below-par today for long spells. First half he strolled it, second half there were a few good runs which you will always get when you have his talent, but then after the booking he seemed to be sulking and totally disinterested with taking his man on. Lennon was the much better performance IMO.

lol anyone give a recap on what bale said post match??

More from Tottenham winger Gareth Bale:
"That's the third time now I've been clipped and booked for no reason again. There's nothing I can do, the referees need to look a bit closer. People think I'm diving when there's contact. If there's contact it's a penalty or free kick, there's nothing I can do. If there's contact, what do you want me to do - hit my head on the floor? I have to put my hands down to protect myself. If people kick me, I'm going to go down. It doesn't bother me, people keep saying I'm diving but it doesn't bother me whatsoever. It's a foul and I know it myself."

Bale was always going to get booked again at some point, so probs for the best he misses against Reading. Reputation wise its not good tho, people will forget soon enough it was a debatable pen and focus on the fact thats 4 (?) yellows for diving.

Good performance, they look very well coached I think.

Is Kyle walker modding today...? Started a thread stating how naughton is the better player and it's disappeared. The free kicks walker conceded today were criminal, he's so naive.

No, keep it in the match thread or in the ratings thread when it appears. No need to make a new thread for it.

I've been a really unhappy with our performances this season but the last two have been excellent, lots more movement and passing accuracy.

Positives for me today were Walkers massive improvement in performance (couldn't get much worse) and Sandro and The Mouss in the middle, lovely stuff!

Negatives were Ade, absolutely awful today, missed two sitters and generally looked disinterested. Also wasn't encouraged by Defoe today!

Well that should have been a lot easier than it was...

Should have scored easily 4 more goals, and the ref has deprived us of Bale for New Years day (but hopefully he'll not be needed...) Clint seems to be the most creative player we have in the Striker/SS role now.

Special mention to Kyle Naughton today, great showing at LB good defending and passing.

But pass of the day goes to Kyle Walker for his outside of the right foot slide rule pass to Lennon (who fluffed his lines and didn't see Ade in front of an open goal) Shame it doesn't cover the rest of his performance.

Nice to see Parker alleviating pressure by, erm, playing percentage balls up the line to no one?

Thought it was great when O'Neil took off their most dangerous player in Larrsson (via free kicks)
Lloris also stood up to the barrage.

On the whole, a good performance that could have been a lot less traumatic.

WTF was that. Either those instructions from AVB were a bit different or Parker was making a point. Whether that point was to Adebayor to say that's where you should be giving us an out ball or ot was to AVB for not starting him. Either was it was very stupid football from a very experienced player.

The Bale situation is getting ridiculous. At the very least the FA must introduce the possibility of rescinding yellow cards that are issued incorrectly. It's getting him an undeserved reputation, we as a team are not getting free kicks and penalties we/he deserve and worse are being punished for being fouled.

It's a fucking mockery of three fucking shams.
