maybe so but he always looks interested on the pitch
and offers a better chance of scoring than crouch
after all aint strikers supposed to score goals ?

pav 43 games for spurs 24 goals

crouch 37 games 13 goals

which one would you say is the better strike option ?

Like Andy Cole when he first joined Man Utd "Brian Kidd came up to me and said if you think you can score 40 goals and that's enough to make us happy then you won't be a success at Man Utd."

The top scorers are Drogba, Rooney, Bent and Tevez. If a club like Barcelona or Real Madrid were looking for a striker I don't believe they'd consider Bent, do you?

If a team wants to compete at the top of one of the best leagues in Europe then the players need to work hard for the team. Lennon can't just put his energy into running at defenders, he has to track back. Bale can't play left back and put all his energy into going forward, he has to concentrate on his defending. Defoe and Pav can't just score goals, they need to put a shift in for the team as well.

So yes it would be nice if Crouch could add more goals to his game but he has been a more effective striker for us this season than Pav.

i said gudjohnsen is more of a attacking midfielder (because he is ...and a very good one at that)
it is possible to keep all of them and buy another striker
although i personally would get rid of crouch and replace him with a proper finisher ,he just does not put in the work for me to play 90 mins week in week out

but as i said if harry wants him id be more than happy for him to stay , end of the day harry knows best regardless of what any of us think on here ..... we actually have a decent manager for once !
as i said id be happy with him on the bench but defoe/pav need better strike partners

Ok I see what you are saying, personally I don't think we can keep them all AND buy another 1st choice striker.

I also feel we are lacking a top top quality striker...which we also seem to agree...So it seems really we are both agreeing that is either Pav or Crouch that would make way....

I think Crouch is the better bench option, as i have said before i can see the argument both ways...I just think Pav would not accept been 3rd /4th choice(4th been if we need Gud type more ATM at that sub time.

And I also think as a sub Crouch would offer more...One thing we do agree on, I am happy for Harry to make these decsions

Keep him definitely
We played in a different style for the important run in vs the 'big 3' and city, and he played his part very very well, without scoring goals. He is always smiling and the fans and players love him.

I'd keep him if we can. I think he'll only be better next season. Great squad player considering how many matches we'll have.

Bent, if we're looking for pure goals. Look at Crouch's performance on Wednesday and see how much good work he did.

It's difficult, as I think as long as Pav is involved he'll be reasonably happy being a squad player. We have to be careful here, we've finished 4th which is great but we're not established there so we can't expect to automatically attract the best. Pav came on yesterday and did quite well in a short space of time. I think he'd be very useful to have next season.

But my problem is that we need a different type of striker, someone with pace and power. We know pretty much that Defoe and Crouch will be staying. The big question marks are around Keane, Pav and Eidur. I think Keane may be moved on but i'm quite sure he probably won't want to leave as we're on the up right now and he won't be able to find a better club. Eidur, I think if he works on his fitness could be vital seeing as he can comfortably play in midfield or upfront with great intelligence and touch. He also has the experience.

On the face of things I'd have to say keep: Defoe, Crouch. Sign Eidur, sell Keane. Then the big question is if we can get in a strong cf. Well I would actually say that we MUST get in a strong cf as a priority. So that would leave Pav as the fallout guy, but on the other hand if we don't sign Eidur then we could keep Pav and have him, Defoe, Crouch, + powerful cf. That would give us decent options up top to push in all comps next season.

I agree we need another strong tall CF - and the goalscoring one at that.
But I really think we should gradually phase out Crouch and not Pav for that position. Pavlyuchenko offers much more to the team cohesive and effective play even when he has not been scoring lately. Crouch, as has been said so often already, changes the style of play to predictable long ball game which most of the time results in loss of possession and inviting more pressure on ourselves. And in proportion to the minutes/games played, he scored considerably fewer goals than Pav's ratio.

The game v Man City was better, but in the first half the main pattern was still the long ball to Crouchy, flick-on to an opponent because Defoe or any other Spurs player was not close enough, Man City launch another attack and we had to defend more and more. Luckily, Gomes, King and Co. were very good again and most of City real chances came from set pieces.

The second half saw much less of the high ball, with midfield told to push up further - and we saw a much better performance from Spurs, resulting in more chances and a well deserved win.

Pav can - and usually has done this year - contribute more to the pass-and-move, more fluid style of football that we have traditionally loved about Spurs. Crouch is undoubtedly a good option too - but should not be the 2nd striker (assuming Defoe is still the 1st) for a team in top 4 and in Champions League. Very good 3rd choice - but not automatic starter.

Pav may not be the ideal solution either - but in my overall opinion certainly offers us more than Crouch and helps produce better, more modern day performances. If we can get a Berbatov, then of course our main forwards duo should be Berbatov & Defoe. But until we get such a player, Pav should be given a chance to start a season FOR THE FIRST TIME at Spurs - because many people forget that he did not play for us from the start of the season yet, either in 2008-09 or in 2009-10, for various reasons.
