Luka will likely kick up a fuss again in the summer when United come calling anyway, in that case i'd accept City's bid just to piss Ferguson off

Mancini's been on holiday in the Balkans, it's natural that the media down there are going to ask about home-grow players, such as "Mancini, what do you think of Luka Modric?" It's like the press over here when they speak to anyone about Tennis always ask for a view on Andy Murray. So what's Mancini going to say? I think it's probable he's going to say "Modric is a fantastic little player, one of the best in the PL!" To which the interviewr replies "Do you want him at City?" "He's already at one of the big clubs in the PL, it would be very hard for anyone to get him blah, blah,"
In a nutshell, mate.
It would save people a lot of grief, if they applied a little grey matter, when reading these well spun stories.

I can't face another summer of a Modric transfer saga.

I was totally behind the decision to make him stay last year but if he's going to whine again and disrupt us I'd consider selling him.

If Man City are involved though it's got to be £50m + or no deal

This. He was in Medjugorje, which is in part of Bosnia populated by Croats, so no wonder he was asked questions about Luka. He has to say something. This days if you say something for you ex-school papers somewhere, in some strange language, it gets into Daily Maily couple of hours later.

The way I see it, we're under no pressure to sell for another 2 seasons after this summer. At that point he'll have 2 years remaining on his contract. Until then, he's already shown that if forced to stay and play, he'll stay and play, and he'll perform well. Levy 1 - 0 Mega****s

I don't think it's a certainty that Modric will want to leave either. Will it be surprising if he comes out and says he want's to leave again? Of course not but I also won't be surprised if he ends up staying with us. I'm not gonna start worrying about anything at this point concerning Modric, not when we don't know his own current feelings.

Hazard and Llorente will tell Luka to shut up and get on with it anyway come August.

And where exactly would City fit him into their team?

I agree with Sloth that this is just Mancini being polite to the press oabout one of their star players. There's nothing in the article to make me think he would bid for him.

Are Chelsea still interested in Modric? Or did that ship sail with AVB?

To those saying Mancini will be sacked if they don't win the title - is this something the owners have said, or is this an assumption? If they have said it they should take a look at Chelsea to see what happens if you keep changing your manager.

£50m, Adebayor and half of Adebayors wages.

Cheers. I'd take any spare players they want rid of too, Dzeko or Adam Johnson.

Also I can see them bidding for RVP over the summer.....maybe they'll do a double raid on North London? >_<

I think this email has just re-ignited the fact that we are looking at another summer of speculation and potential unrest. No idea if Chelsea, Man City or whoever else are prepared to put in an offer but Modric id the type of player and the quality that these teams will be looking at.

They can have him if they pay for the new stadium.

Think Id actually say 50% of the cost, Id be happy with that...

THe amount we are all paying for petrol at the moment, we might aswell get some good out of it!

I think we should just come out and say that the only way we'll sell Modric this summer is if a team bids £40m more than the cost of his replacement, similar to Torres-Carroll.

Be pragmatic about it - say we don't want to sell, but if our hand is forced then that's the only terms that it can work on.

The media will either STFU or run endless stories about us being linked with every quality midfielder there is.

I think levy will tell them to jog on, unless it is ridiculous money, and by ridiculous I mean 50+ which I'm not sure even city would spend? If as I expect us to are in the CL next season he will only want to leave for the financial reasons especially if we strengthen
