We need to try something different because it's simply not working at the moment.

Problem is that I'm not sure we've got the players available to do anything different, and the other issue is that so many players are out of form that there's so much we need to change.

Wanyama has arguably been one of our best players, but at the same time since he's come into the team we've got worse.

Eriksen doesn't even look interested, Son and Alli seem to have lost the ability to control the ball and the less said about Wimmer and Dier at centre back the better.

It's also not as if we have great options to change things. Sissoko has been awful and N'Koudou looks very very raw.

So in short I'd pick Lloris, and I'd pick Kane, and then fuck knows with everyone else. I suspect it won't make a blind bit of difference.

Lloris

Walker Dier Wimmer Vertonghen

Wanyama Eriksen Winks

Sissoko Kane N'Koudou

Subs: Vorm, CCV, Trippier, Dembele, Alli, Son, Janssen
On reflection I'd probably try a 4-3-3. There's no point trying to play wing-backs because we don't have a left back available so let's try and pack the midfield instead.

Eriksen has been dropping deep anyway this season so let's just play him there with Winks and see if we can actually get some creativity from midfield.

I'm not happy with Sissoko or N'Koudou starting, but Alli and Son both deserve to be benched after their abject displays last night. Dembele also deserves to be dropped after his ill disciplined nonsense last night.

But anyway...it won't make a difference.

Sissoko should be nowhere near the team
People say this but who is actually playing better at the moment?

I am sick of Eriksen jogging around, giving the ball away and scuffing daisy cutters straight at the keeper every single bloody time. I'm also sick of Alli's shocking first touch. To compound this every time I see Nkoudou he spends more time facing his own goal than the opposition goal.

Sissoko hasn't been good but he's getting a torrent of abuse from supporters when it's not really his fault at all. There have been multiple players that have actually performed worse and got away with it.

Sounds a bit black and white but I cant help but feel that the rotation needs to be curbed, give the players chance to gel again and run a consistent (where injury and suspension allows) across all competitions for a few weeks. We need to find a rhythm from somewhere and the stop start nature of play, dont play, play doesnt appear to of helped this. Using the squad is important but really only when the team has a rhythm on the go.

we have good players, we're just not seeing it at the moment.

Are you kidding me? Sissoko can't even trap a ball or make a simple pass!! He should be nowhere near this team

Since when does Nkoudou play
Left wing back? You can't just throw him in and say defend well against Chelsea attack

he is probably the quickest player we have to play wingback and we cant do much wrong after what I witnessed yesterday. You can shuffle into a 4 at the back when he moves forward exactly what we did against arsenal when either walker or rose went forward.

Just can't get my head around whether he is the problem

No hes not. Has he made Toby out for a month? Kane out for a month? Alli off form, Lamela out for a month, no back up to Kane of real quality, the donkey that is sissoko, too many changes of formation, the front players not pressing, no back up to Toby of enough quality ect ect

Maybe swap Ali for eriksen. Feel N'koudou should start as I feel we have lacked pace and width

I don't really see how he can be. We've still been generally sound defensively this season (last night not included) and he's hardly inhibiting our attacking play as Dier rarely contributed to that anyway.

For me he offers more than Dier in that role, so it doesn't make sense that he'd be the problem.

The bigger issue has been going forwards, and that seems to more be the collapse in form of Alli and Eriksen, the inconsistency of Son and Dembele and the absence of Lamela, not to mention Kane being out and Janssen being off the pace so far.

I think if Wanyama played in the middle with Winks or Eriksen then that would work. Wanyama would do the dirty work and the other player would get the ball moving forwards (something which Dembele isn't great at at the best of times).

Walker - CCV - Verts - Trippier
Winks - Dier - Dembele
Sissoko/Son - Kane - Son/GKN/Eriksen
Width on the attacking left is absolutely key in this game regardless of who plays LB because they will be just doing a job and will make us so narrow if we play our normal game... and against Chelsea back 3 we need to be playing in the channels... which poch failed to implement against west hams back 3.

I'd rather play Onomah than Sissoko if that what it takes.
