Few whispers that Troy Parrot might be on the bench tomorrow night.

What source? I think Alisdair Gold claimed from the young guys Marsh and Skipp were in the training session involved.
I think if Parrott would be anywhere near the bench he would have been used instead of Janssen lately.
I can hardly see Poch throwing him in at at CL semi final.

I guess the squad will be:

Lloris, Gazzaniga - KWP, Trippier, Verts, Toby, Sanchez, Foyth, Rose, Davies - Wanyama, Dier, Skipp, Dele, Eriksen, Sissoko, Lucas Moura - Llorente

If Sissoko is not fit he will be replaced by Marsh.

It was from via Ali Gold from somewhere else. It was hardly definitive and I’d be surprised also.

Part of me hopes we just start Parrott. I know it won't happen and the occasion is too big, but I'm tired of watching Llorente and Janssen and at least he'd offer a threat and some energy up front.

What do you know what he offers? We can not go every two weeks from Llorente is shit to he is a great back up and back again. We maybe can discuss having Troy on the bench is an option but honestly....lets let the lad miss an open goal that would put us in the Champions League final. His career could be over in one scene.

But on the other side, having maybe no attacking players on the bench would not help our chances either.

I can see Poch putting Rose on LW and Davies or even Verts as a LB to have Lucas on the bench to have an option to change things. Its surely not as good as it should be.

So what I think would Poch do and is reasonable if Verts and Sissoko are ready:

----------------------------Lloris--------------------------
---Trippier-----Toby----------Verts----------Davies-
---------------------------Wanyama----------------------
---------------Sissoko-------------------Eriksen---------
------------Dele-----------Llorente--------Rose--------

Rose/Eriksen and Dele/Sissoko changing positions with each other from time to time. Lucas as a super sub (but that could also be Llorente and we put Dele up front and Lucas as RW).

Subs: Gazza, Sanchez, Foyth, KWP, Dier, Lucas, Skipp

Watching Chelsea yesterday and the monotony of Higuain basically living offside, I honestly wouldn't swap him for Lllorente as a back up striker. And they are paying him £270K a week!

Yeah, having seen our Ajax played out from the back, and transitioned the ball when they won it against Juventus, I think we need as many mobile players in our attacking third as possible to press the fuck out of them. it's actually why I was hoping Lamela would be fit for this as I thought he would have been perfect for this game.

They'll play far too easily around Llorente, and even with the three at the back Trippier and Rose effectively play as midfielders anyway, so we don't lose too much on the attacking end.

I think it’s time to ditch Lamela at the end of this season. He is the ultimate sick note. Would love to know his percentage availability compared to Anderton.
Edit : Anderton 299 games in 12 seasons , Lamela 128 in 6 years . Even allowing for the fact that Lamela has not always been an automatic choice it seems like he is a worthy successor to Darren’s title.

Trippier - Toby - Jan - Rose
--------- Dier -----------
---Sissoko --- Wanyama
-------- Eriksen--------
--- Moura -------- Dele

Having Wanyama & Dier as the defensive shield will give Moussa the freedom to run at the Ajax CM & CBs.

Tough to know who is fit enough to Play but agree we need a strong tackling midfield but the running of Sissoko would be good as I believe the way he has been playing opens up holes for our attacking players

Dier is terrible when the opposition run at us , he just retreats into the back line, that is when he’s not hiding away from the ball. In the words of a former well known poster to this board he has the turning circle of a caravan. Or something like that. If we are able to go with Sissoko and Wanyama I don’t see why we need Dier too.

In the formation I've proposed, Dier & Wanyama take full responsibility for the defensive side, allowing Moussa to focus on making runs from deep and overpowering the Ajax CM's. Having both Wanyama and Dier would equal one fully functional DM as both are coming back from long term injuries/ issues and are trying to regain form.

I understand the logic but Dier has regressed so much since his first 2 excellent seasons alongside Dembele. I honestly think he is a liability as a midfielder.

How can you be tired of watching Janssen? He's played about 7 minutes in nearly 2 years.

At this point, I'm open to him playing as Wanyama will undoubtedly get run ragged by the Ajax's quick passing and interchanging. I'm hoping Dier would at least show himself as a leader and put in a good performance but it's evident that he isn't the same dynamic player from 2-3 years ago.
