I disagree. He played well yesterday, but the next game will be nothing like yesterday imo.
Liverpool's approach will be more similar to Man City. And in that game, Trippier was awful. Sane completely destroyed him. He will have to face Mane next game.

I hope Poch learned from the mistakes he made against Man City.

Sane would have destroyed most full backs in the world on that particular day, I very highly doubt that Aurier, KWP or for that matter that Forrest Gump **** who fucked off would have faired any better.

Some fans need to give Trippier a fucking break IMO.

He is a confidence player though... his tail will be up after yday.. I haven't seen enough consistency from Aurier yet.. give trippier the support he needs and he will hold his own.. his crossing wI'll be important on Sunday too
Poch could give him his trust in this game tbh. But Trippier really does need to prove that he can handle world class wingers consistently or he's not going to have a long term future here. At the kind of level we are aspiring to be at we need complete full backs.

The only player that needs to be dropped imo is Trippier. Mane will rip him a new one.
Yesterday was at home and against a Man U team that dont attack so viciously like Liverpool.
Playing Trippier away at Anfield is madness imo

Only if we play open and leave him exposed like we did at the Etihad.

Maybe. Maybe that day no one could cope with Sane.
But the fact is Trippier always struggles when we get attacked and have less possession. Not to mention when he has to mark a fast winger. So if Sane was uncontrollable that day doesn't change my opinion of him.
I still think the risk is lower with Aurier.
I would only be less reluctant to play Trippier if we play with 3 at the back and wingbacks. In that formation his lack of defense is not that important

Lloris
Sanchez Toby Vertonghen
Aurier Dier Dembele Rose
Eriksen Dele
Kane

Vorm, Davies, Wanyama, Lamela, Son, Lucas, Llorente
Ive been thinking and depending on Poch’s tactics decision, either this will likely be it if deciding to go on a counter. Or if he fancies a high press(which i hope he stays far away from in this one) i could see him going with a 4141 here with Lamela and potentially Wanyama in for Sanchez and potentially Dier

LOL at that score prediction.

But seriously, I really want to see this lineup happen at some point. It would be so fucking exciting to watch.

How can Moura not be illegible ? Every other team buy players and get them in the team straight away. We need him on the bench against pool, so we have a different option. Problem is he can’t play v Newport so we really need him to get some game time before the Arsenal game.

I think the main questions are if Aurier is fit (I dont think he will be) and if Dembele can back up after the United game. Give Toby another half a week of fitness work on the track and start him against Newport. If Dembele is okay:

Lloris
Trippier - Sanchez - Vertonghen - Davies
Dier - Dembele
Eriksen - Dele - Son
Kane

Vorm - Rose - Wanyama - Sissoko - Lamela - Lucas - Llorente
If Dembele is not fit enough:

Lloris
Dier - Sanchez - Vertonghen
Trippier - Eriksen - Wanyama - Dele - Davies
Kane - Son

Vorm - Rose - Alderweireld - Sissoko - Lamela - Lucas - Llorente

Dier might have done well against United but he is very poor under pressure. There will be plenty of that at Anfield so i'd be reluctant to play him in midfield

I would play him in midfield but not in defence. A lot of our defeats vs the top teams away dier has been in a back 3/4 and he has looked shaky and cost us goals by being out of position or getting caught on the ball

You're on crack if you think Lamela will replace Dier. He'll start with the same team that played United and if it goes tits up, will move Dier into a back 3 and Dele alongside Dembele in the middle.

I'd go counter attacking all day and give them explicit instructions not to fuck about with it at the back. Their high press always fucks us up at anfield.

Agreed this is obviously a trouble spot if Dier is in MF and I think he will be. He has played plenty as a LB and in a Three and should help Trippier contain threats from the left.

We have to go back 3 and Just nullify their front 3. If you do that they have very little goal threat from elsewhere. Can Henderson Ox won’t really hurt us sorry from pot shots.Vvd set pieces but that’s really it. I’m pretty confident we will score at least 2.

Trippier had no problems against Martial and Sanchez recently. Against Liverpool as well i am pretty sure possession will be 50-50 .

Mane starts on the left wing these days and looks a lesser player for it.

I'm surprised at that as though Salah was a right-footed inverted left winger and Mane a left-footed inverted right winger so they would both thrive in Liverpool set up.

Mane has noticeably not been as good this season though, Coutinho was playing in his place before he moved to Barca.
