All I can say is, if we have to risk the likes of Modric, Lennon, Defoe, Bale and Walker then thank god we are out of it. I would not want us risking these players in March when we could be fighting for 1st/2nd/3rd/4th. Don't get me wrong I hate seeing us lose but it wasn't much of a tournament anyway, like the League Cup it has lost its appeal. Uefa need to seriously rethink the structure and prize, I mean it only makes sense to give the winners either a spot or qualifying spot in the Champions League.

Least we gave it a go tonight, we are such a different team now, even the reserve side showed a few glimpses of quality tonight (probably because of the influence of Modric eh?). Agree with others though about the likes of Pienaar, what a wasteful signing. I'd take Kranjcar any day.

Now onto serious business, Bolton.

Wow, huge over-reactions in here! Yes it was a disappointing performance, especially from those who should be using these games to form a case for premier league selection (Pienaar, Corulka etc.). But lets look at this competition for what it was - A good test for the younger/squad players to prove their worth. Some have shone (Carroll and Livermore in earlier games). While others have perhaps underperformed (Pav, Corluka).

They came out really fired up and caught us napping, although theres no excuse for that you cant knock the players for how they came back at PAOK. Credit where its due they defended really well second half, and it just wasnt our night. To suggest Kane isnt up to it on the evidence of a few Europa League games is ludicrous! Let the kid find his feet and a bit of confidence before writing him off!

I'll have to watch it again but I thought Bassong wasn't marking anyone....the goal scorer was between him and Rose in a lot of space.

You could well be right but at the very at least it shows Bassong didn't have the awareness to correct his positioning before it was too late.

I could well be wrong too  I'm certain there was a guy who was on the edge of the box who Bassong is pre-occupied with and looks at, but this player does his best Pav/statue impression and remains there and so Bassong ends up holding his position in anticipation of a run.

The goalscorer runs around the back of Bassong, he is tracked by Rose all the way until the end where Rose... just stops for some reason. Bassong could probably have been in a better position but I doubt was aware of the guy and Rose at the end of the day lost his man.

Hope I'm right after typing all that, otherwise opticians for me in the morning!

Well that sounds logical, must of missed that and would explain his static positioning.

Anyway the bottam line is they exposed our rusty defence early doors and in the end that proved significant after they defended for their lives

As soon as we qualified for this last season I hoped we'd stick with a very young 2nd XI to get them experience and whatever happened, happened

Glad we lost. Hope we cant qualify now. The sooner we get out of this rubbish competition the better

Cant understand why the hell Modric/Bale etc are anywhere near this crap europa league stuff

I'm off to Dublin too but couldnt give 2 hoots about the result. Sad to say but unless your in the CL your nothing and pretty skint too

So basically Harry put out a team to win and we could not beat a average greekt league team at home with ten men, not sure which is worse to be honest  so should I now be angry with the players?

No, you should just realise that shit happens.

No injuries which is good news. Beat Bolton and it's business as usual. EL is still a very good competition to win and although it's very winnable there would still be another 10 matches and it just takes one off day and your out

We have a great chance of finishing 2nd this year

Sorry Frank Arensen.

I'd rather let TIME tell rather than rushing judgement.

Well no need for the sarcasm is there

You are entitled to reserve judgement and avoid having an opinion of course

I am equally as entitled to express my opinions about a SPurs player on a SPURS FAN WEBSITE that is designed for Spurs fans to discuss their views with other Spurs fans

I am not claiming to be a professional assessor of youth player potential, I made it pretty clear I was expressing my personal opinion and nothing more.

I am off the opinion based on what I have seen that the lad is not very good and will not develop into a player capable of playing first team football for us. That is what I believe and time will tell (I don't know why you felt the need to enlarge the word time when I myself said "time will tell")

You can say you think its too early to judge a player on what little we have seen of Kane by all means, but there is no need to be a dick about it and come with sarcastic remarks.

Time will tell indeed, but I would be amazed if that kid is playing football at higher than Championship level in 5years time.

Okay, who else thought Falque was very promising?

Would like to see more of him, Townsend, and Kane, and I almost wish we had more games to play if I'm honest.

Lol this isn't a blessing in disguise it's just a blessing. Yeah we want Spurs to win and it's hard not to feel a bit down when we lose but in the grand scheme of things this competition doesn't mean shit unless you win it - it does to Levy financially but that's all.

If we don't finish top 4 this season then it's goodbye to some key players of the best Spurs team I've seen in nearly 30 years of going. Playing in this next year when the business end of the Prem is upon us would be a distraction we really don't need when we 've got games on the weekends before and after. How would any of you feel if Modric, Lennon, Bale etc. had done a Lucas tonight and was out for the rest of the season?

It's ALL about the league folks and we're in a great position to finish top 3. Look on the bright side, some of the youngsters got games, the experience was mostly positive and we've made a few million out of it.

We now have an advantage over ALL our rivals - they have extra games we don't (including Liverpool) and we have a clear shot at the Prem. Would Arseholes have drawn with Fulham if they hadn't played Wednesday? I very much doubt it...

2nd half of the season will be vital - whisper it but we could win the league....

This competition will now be won by a team significantly inferior to ours.

Can we calm the prem talk. If anything, what this game told us is that our replacements are too rusty to come into the first team and do a decent job.

That is worrying.

We needed regular football of our fringe players, there will be plenty of games around crimbo, but after that, I could see some leaving.
