Really the only game erik started in the centre was Swansea away and that was his best game, he is not a left sided winger drifts out of the game. Play him where he should and he directs the game and he has the skill and niche to open up and create
Wingless wonder (4-1-2-1-2)...
Lloris
Walker
Kaboul
Vertonghen
Rose
Sandro (DM)
Paulinho/Bentelab
Dembele
Eriksen (AM)
Soldado
Adebayor
On paper this looks like a very good and effective formation.
In reality Walker and Rose will run forward, stop, look confused, pass the ball sideways and bring the attack to a halt.
Kyle sprinted down the wing against Chelsea, I thought that's it Kyle ... now put a cross in. What did he do? Stopped and passed it to waste of space Lennon, who in turn passed it back go Kyle who was then dispossessed.
I would like to think Dim would instruct them to cross the ball, but judging by the recent clueless displays ... he probs tells them not to put a cross in.
Walker is disastrous with time to think unfortunately and Rose isn't much better.
But I have very little confidence in our wingers at the moment, and would rather try and sure up the middle and play with two up front. Adebayor naturally drifts to the left anyway, and I would hope that Walker and another midfielder can exploit the right flank too.
At least Lennon wouldn't get in Walker's way down the right, as they usually over-complicate things together. Just get him running at full speed, latching on to a through ball, and hopefully he'll cross it before thinking.
You're right, central midfield is where the game will be won or lost.
Eriksen is our key player and must play behind Ade and Soldado, and not be shoved out on the left.
