I'd make 8 changes and go back to a back 4:

Vorm
Trippier
Alderweireld
Wimmer
Davies
Wanyama
Winks
Sissoko
Eriksen
Son
Janssen

I'd still have Toby, Wanyama and Eriksen in the team to add some composure through the spine of the team.

Nkoudou and Onomah would be pencilled in to get 30 minutes - maybe give one of them 45.

Reason for reverting to the back 4 is I doubt those fringe players coming into the team are well drilled in the 3-4-3 system.

Pau Alderweireld Rose Wanyama Alli Eriksen Kane
If Lamela is fit, in for Nkoudou.

Don't think I'd make that many changes. We haven't another game for a week.

Vorm, Trippier, Dier, Wimmer, Davies, Winks, Wanyama, Sissoko, onomah, son, Janssen (if fit)

Actually that's quite a few changes isn't it. Should still be enough to avoid a replay.

Also I just want us to avoid a repeat of after Man City where the break was an international one rather than an FA cup game but we struggled. Therefore possibly keeping a similar team to Wednesday might be an idea.

Walker-Peters, Walkes, Harrison and Amos all playing for the PL2 side right now so I doubt any of them will be involved against Villa.

I I'm sure Villa will be playing a weakened team.

I would not be so sure - other than that Villa are a Championship squad. They have 6 days rest since their last match on January 2, and 6 days rest until their next match on January 15.

Plus, they do not look a threat to be promoted this season, nor will they be relegated - so no reason to prioritize the league right now. A win at Spurs would essentially make their entire season, and make their supporters forget that they will be spending yet another season in the Championship next year.

Regarding Edwards. A poster on FTL spoke to Ugo Ehiogu last night and he said Edwards is about 3 weeks away from action.

That's a shame, I would like to have seen him get some game time against Villa, maybe as a sub after 60 minutes, depending on how we were doing!

Looking forward to this game, nice chance to keep the fringe players match sharp and crucial game time. Not the easiest match, but not the hardest either, but think our squad has enough to see us through. Shows how far we have come on, that the majority of our back up players are of high quality and all wanting first team action, I think most of them would get into an average premier league team, let alone Villa's.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/first-team/general/spurs-training-gallery-january-6-060117/

After looking at the players that trained today (as shown above), and Poch's quote "We need to measure the level of the players and to assess them properly not only physically but mentally as well. Some players need rest. Sure, we’ll make some changes". I think this will be the team

Vorm
Tripper, CCV, Wimmer, Davies

Onomah.. Winks

Sissoko. Son, N'Koudou.

Janssen

The only other players I can see training is goalkeeper Austin (Pau played for the u21's today) and Carroll (who may get a game for the first time in ages !). Decent team, but unsure that the low level of the players actually playing first-team football may leave them not match sharp. Big game for the likes of N'Koudou and Janssen to impress

I would prefer some experience in there as well, such as Dier alongside Winks and Toby at the back with Wimmer, but not sure that is gonna happen. Be nice to have a strong bench though, in case we are struggling.

Lloris
Trippier Toby Wimmer Davies
Wanyama Winks
Sissoko Eriksen Son
Kane
Sub Kane, Eriksen and Toby once job is done which with that line up should be half time :)
I wanna win it first and then make changes, not struggle and then bring on big guns when we've 20min left to do something.
But to be honest our squad is so deep, full of quality, and every player knows how we play, I think bar a royal fk up we can put out pretty much any combo and we should have too much for them.... but I wouldn't risk it lol.

I'm surprised how many are prepared to start Jansen in a must win game when he has yet to score a goal in open play.
Not slagging the guy off but seems risky to me.

I'm equally surprised that no one has selected Mike Dean in our line-up, given that those nice people at the FA have made him available to us.
