What? There is no one in the league that is as good at driving the ball forward, holding off defenders and getting the ball to the attackers as Dembele. No one. An in form, fully fit Dembele is one of the best all around CM's in Europe. He is not a defensive midfielder like Dier or Wanyama. He is a CM who can play well in the AM3 but can also play competently in the DM role if needed.

Yeah I get all that but it's not as if Dembele has an end product, I mean I mentioned this before but he may be able to carry the ball a few yards but creative wise we're not going to be missing anything. In fact I think Eric Dier could do a job as an advanced playmaker if Wanyama plays because he has more in his locker going forward than Dembele has.

What Dembele does give us is power in midfield which is something we were lacking when he was suspended which is exactly what Wanyama was brought in for.

Best all round CM's is really pushing it, he's great at what he does but let's not over exaggerate here.

really believe while Dembele is out, v Everton and Liverpool we will start with Dier and Wanyama.

with Wimmer not playing in any pre-season, not sure Poch will chance him, though he never had much match fitness when he covered for Verts last season, so wouldn't be a complete shock those 2 are reversed.

will be interesting to see if Edwards gets on the bench ahead of Mason or Winks, really hope he gets some time

No it's not. This doesn't include Verts, Dembele, Davies, Wimmer, Son, Chadli, N'jie or Bentaleb for that matter. If N'jie or Chadli leave I believe they will be replaced.
Poch doesn't want to work with a Chelsea squad of 40 players. You have 20-22 first teamers and youth to back that up.

Chadli may not make sub bench coz he could be on his way out

If preseason is anything to go by, Janssen, Winks & Onomah are playing really well, so much so atleast 2 of them could even start for the game.

Would love Onomah to line up alongside Dier in midfield, and perhaps Winks later on but it seems unlikely.

Not sure I agree. I think our defence would be a weaker moving Davies to CB(where has never made a prem appearance there). Than it would moving Dier back there and using Wanayama in his place in DM.

he might not of started there for us, but he finished there v Burnley a couple of seasons ago, and did a very good job on Ings and Vokes

Ben Davies at CB against Lukaku?

Every single time Everton got the ball in wide positions, I suspect Lukaku would just position himself against Davies waiting for the cross to come in with a huge smile on his face.

I think there are matches where Davies could do a job at CB - he reads the game reasonably well. But not against a striker with the size and strength of Lukaku.

i agree about not moving Dier back, but not for the same reasons, his worst whole game last season was v Watford, Ighalo bullied him most of the match

Poch has already said CCV, Dier and Wanyama is enough cover for the RCB position. Considering both Wanyama and Dier started their careers at CB and CCV is a highly rated academy player that is more than enough. Chelsea won the title with only Zouma as back up to Terry/Cahill

I think we've been lucky; our first 6 fixtures are easy

We are especially lucky to play Everton so early. Koeman's a great coach but its unlikely to show in his first 10 games given the departure of Stones.

His team has a soft core; there is no proven ball winner in that team. We don't need Dembele against them. Lukaku was also underwhelming in the Euros.

I expect us to beat them soundly tbh. Now i'm just thinking who to put in my fantasy league team..
